Liam reassured Sera that Jax couldn’t reach her. Sera lowered her gaze; she’d
said all she needed to say when she faked her death. She didn’t want to see him or
hear his explanations. Infidelity was infidelity.
They cuddled on the sofa. Liam, encouraged by alcohol, finally kissed her.
Sera, who was also drunk, didn’t resist. The rest just happened.
Sera wanted to think of it as a one–night stand, but he held her accountable
to him like a child. Looking at him, she finally nodded.
Sera didn’t walk for the next few days because Liam was always holding her.
She discovered a different Liam- attentive, caring, rubbing her belly when she
had menstrual cramps. She’d fallen asleep several times in his arms.
She pulled on his hand, murmuring. “I’m better now. You should
company…”
Liam should’ve been working, but he stayed home to take care of her.

He chuckled, kissing her forehead.“It’s fine. Why would I hire them if they
need me to show up every day? You’re more important.”
After her period, Liam took her camping in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand.
They relaxed in a hammock, sipping local wine, enjoying the sunset. Sera,
slightly tipsy, begged Liam to get her stars.

He laughed, holding her close, kissing her forehead.“Okay. Take a rest and
I’ll get you stars tomorrow.”
She awoke in the camper van. Liam was on the phone. He kissed her
hand.“Let’s get those stars.”
She looked at him, confused.“Stars?”
He smiled mysteriously.“You’ll see.”
He’d asked his friends to prepare several sets of star–themed jewelry. Whey
they arrived, Liam’s friend greeted them, offering tea and pastries. Then, they
aw the jewelry. Each set glittered under the natural light. Sera chose a set of
sapphires; the necklace resembled a galaxy, with a pendant shaped like a flower.
Liam put it on her, his eyes sparkling.“It suits you.”
He bought all the sets. She tried to stop, but he kissed her.“Sera, I’ll spend
anything to make you happy.”
