Sera decided to go back to Italy. The butler came to her.“Miss Rylee, your
parents are here.”
Sera raised her eyebrow.“My parents?” The butler explained that they had
planned to visit her when they heard she was still alive.
Sera didn’t say anything. Liam stepped forward and held her waist. “They
came here for money. Your father’s company is failing; your mother’s husband is
bankrupt. They came to me first, but I refused them.”
Sera wasn’t surprised. She stopped loving her parents the day they
abandoned her to start a new family. She shook her head, going upstairs. She
didn’t care whether they would hate her or not.
Sera’s parents argued outside. The butler said coldly, “When your daughter
needed you, you weren’t there. Why do you think she’d help you?” They were
silent.
Sera and Liam spent a month in the US. Liam introduced her to his family
and friends. Then, they left for Italy.
In the ICU, Jax, perhaps sensing Sera’s departure, wept. He recalled what
she said to him at the engagement. It came true. He lied to her and she was gone.
His heart seized up; his breathing grew rapid, an alarm blared. Doctors
