Chapter 12 A Rumor
This fool.
Christian looked out the car window and said, “Concentrate on your schoolwork from now on
“After school, I’ll meet you at the gate and assist you with your homework.”
Jocelyn felt a pang of guilt but still took the reflection essay. It appeared that at some point, she had come to expect his kindness without much thought.
She asked. “Can you cook?”
Christian replied, “Yes, what would you like?
Jocelyn remarked, ‘Anything you make is good with me.”
Christian fad a difficult upbringing and learned to depend on himself. In this way, he was quite like Zachary, as they both were very self–suflicient.
When Zachary didn’t go back to his family, they also went through tough times. He was incredibly kind to her, ensuring she never faced hardship or went without food. During their escape from the orphanage fire and their time on the streets, Zachary took care of her. Realizing how hard it was for him to support her. she began to look after him, frequently treating his wounds and learning to do the laundry and cook to case his load.
Besides those blood–related families, no one else was obligated to take care of her.
In reality, she always knew that Zachary took care of her primarily because of her father’s life–saving
actions.
Once Zachary went back to the Prices, he became the heir to Crypticorps, putting them on different paths
In her previous life, she had experienced Christian’s cooking skills, which were exceptional and comparable to those of Michelin–starred chefs.
Even after achieving success, he continued to enjoy experimenting with new recipes and always made meals for her.
When they arrived at the school, Christian intentionally walked slowly, trailing behind her.
Jocelyn went back to her classroom for morning class and handed the reflection essay to the office. Brianna merely glanced at it, not noticing anything unusual.
Brianna said, “There will be a parent–teacher meeting after the mock test. Are you aware of that?”
Jocelyn’s heart raced.
“All parents are expected to attend. I understand your situation is different, so try to have your brother come if you can. If not, you can skip that day. But make sure to do well on the mock test, okay? Put more elfort into your studies.”
Jocelyn nodded, “I understand, Ms. Carter.”

Brianna responded, “You can go back to morning class now.”
Once she was back in the classroom, Margot immediately asked for the latest news as Jocelyn set down her bag and took her seat, “Christian called me last night. I’m sorry, Josie, I accidentally mentioned your situation to him, and he gave me two 50 percent off coupons for a barbecue place. I couldn’t resist using them. Margot apologized with her hands together.
Jocelyn casually pulled out a book from her bag and replied. “It’s fine, but thanks anyway.
Margot looked surprised, “Thank me? Why are you thanking me? Are you dating Christian?”
Jocelyn didn’t say a word.
Margot went on, “Honestly, I think you and Christian are a great match, like the rugged man and his delicate wife from a novel I read recently. You two seem perfect together. Want me to send you the book? I can share it with you.”
Jocelyn shook her head, “You can keep it. I’m not interested in that kind of thing
Margot’s greatest passion was reading novels. In her previous life, she wrote bestselling novels and made a lot of money from their rights, becoming a well–known romance author on a major website. Even though she didn’t go to university, she had plenty of money.
Jocelyn focused on taking notes and studying hard, not letting her mind wander. The day went by smoothly.
Before she knew it, it was time to head home. Jocelyn, being the last to leave the classroom, moved slowly and reluctantly. At the school gate, she spotted Christian waiting for her as anticipated.
With duty teachers stationed at the gate, they couldn’t walk side by side openly. Jocelyn trailed behind Christian until they were outside the school, then hurried up to him and asked, “Genius, where are you taking me?”
Christian asked, “Do you want to get some milk tea?”
“Ah? I don’t drink those. Could you get me a bottle of water instead? I’m really thirsty.” Jocelyn was always straightforward with him. Since the milk tea was 7 dollars a cup and she wanted to save him some money. she decided to only ask for a bottle of water to be polite and to flatter his pride.
Christian bought two bottles of water and also got her an extra bottle of hot milk. “I can’t invite you to my place now, but if you want to try the food I cook, we can do that next time!
“This time, I’ll take you somewhere else to eat.”
Jocelyn’s eyes lit up with a smile. “Great! I want the Paradise’s beef pasta.”
Christian took a drink of water, his appealing throat bobbing as he swallowed, “Alright.”
At a shopping mall, the beef pasta was something she had brought Zachary to try a few times. However, he always claimed he couldn’t get used to the flavor. After two visits, they never returned.
There were also a lot of students around, and even if she ran into someone from her own school, she wasn’t shy.

After placing the order, Christian settled the bill, and Jocelyn picked up her workbook. “Can you assist me with this question? I’ve attempted it twice–got it wrong the first time and the second time, although I’m unsure where I went astray, the answer ended up being right by chance
Christian quickly identified the issue, pointing to a formula. “Here, the formula is incorrect”
Christian’s remark made her feel slightly embarrassed,
“Why are you staring at me? Do I have the answer written on my face?”
Jocelyn squinted and smiled, her lips curling into a grin. “No, I just think you’re attractive.”
Christian cleared his throat a few times, his fist half–clenched. “Pay attention.”
Jocelyn replied with a simple, “Okay.”
In just three minutes, Christian explained the math problem to her, and Jocelyn completed her other homework alongside.
“Yvette, if you want these snacks, just have the servant get them for you. Why go through the trouble of waiting in line for an hour or two? Isn’t it exhausting?” The speaker, looking around seventeen or eighteen, was dressed in trendy, high–end clothing.
“It’s fine. I noticed that Zachary had snacks from this place before, but I haven’t seen him with them recently. He’s probably been too busy to pick them up himself. Since I have some free time, I thought I’d grab some to bring to the office for him.
and grace. Hearing the familiar gentle tone, Jocelyn turned to see Yvette, who was dressed with elegance holding two boxes of beautifully packaged snacks. When she talked about Zachary, her face lit
warm smile.

The daughters of wealthy families always seem to have an air of refinement, even down to the smallest details. Passersby couldn’t help but take notice of her.
It seemed Yvette noticed someone watching her. As she followed their gaze, their eyes met.
She smiled and gave a nod in Jocelyn’s direction.
Jocelyn returned the smile and nodded back.
“Yvette, who are you looking at? Do you know them?”
Yvette replied, “It’s nothing. You head back first. I’m going to Zachary’s office. He probably hasn’t had a chance to enjoy these snacks.”
The girl next to her suddenly asked in a soft voice, “Yvette, I heard a rumor that brother–in–law is keeping another woman. Is it true?”
