Yvette gave a soft smile, adjusting the shawl draped over her shoulders. She lightly tapped it and said. “Zac and 1 were childhood friends. Only I truly understand who he is.
“Okay, we have everything we need. Let’s head back”
Jocelyn tried to disregard it, but the words were unmistakable. It made sense why Zachary had been so attached to Yvette in his previous life. They were childhood friends, close from a young age. In comparison to Yvette, she could never measure up
The pasta was steaming as they were placed on the table Jocelyn scooped two spoons of chili flakes into her plate, about to add a thind, when Christian stopped her by holding her hand. “Two spoons are plenty. Too much will upset your stomach.
“Then I’ll give this spoon to you.
Before Jocelyn could pass the spoon over, Christian had already taken it from her and added it to his own plate, then handed the spoon back to her.
Jocelyn replied. Tve already used that spoon.
Christian said. “It’s fine.”
A sudden warmth spread through Jocelyn, brightening her mood. As she looked down, a smile gently appeared on her lips. Christian, you really never change.
Meanwhile, at Crypticorps.
Yvette stepped out of the car holding some neatly wrapped snacks. As she entered the building, a receptionist at the front desk recognized her and approached with a friendly smile. “Ms. Foster, welcome, Are you here to see Mr. Price? It might take a few minutes since Mr. Price is in a meeting right now. Let me get the elevator for you”
Yvette smiled and gave a nod, “Thank you.”
The receptionist responded, “You’re too gracious, Ms. Foster.”
By now, it was common knowledge in Dreunga that the Fosters daughter was destined to become the future Mrs. Price, a figure of great prestige. But beyond her, no one else seemed worthy of Mr. Price, who was remarkably exceptional and almost godlike.
Yvette took the CEO’s private elevator to the top floor. As she exited, she noticed the door to the executive meeting room was still ajar. Inside, Zachary sat at the head of the table, exuding authority. His black shirt was casually undone at the top two buttons, giving off an alluring yet commanding presence. Yvette found herself entranced by his strong, chiseled jawline, unable to tear her gaze away.
Even after spending more than ten years away from Dreunga, he hadn’t changed. He was still the same as when they were children, unmoved by anyone.
In the year and a half since his return, she still found it hard to believe he was really back. Yet, their relationship felt more distant than it had been before.

It was Evan who first noticed Yvette standing outside the door. He leaned in and whispered something to Zachary, who gave a slight nod in response.
After a moment, Evan emerged from the meeting room.
“Ms. Foster, please come with me,” he said.
Yvette adopted a humble tone, “I apologize for the unannounced visit. I hope I’m not intruding.”
Evan replied with respect, “Not at all. You are the future mistress of Crypticorps. Mr. Price also mentioned that you’re always welcome here. However, the meeting started just half an hour ago, so you might need to wait a bit longer.
He then guided Yvette to the CEO’s office and asked the secretary to bring her a cup of hot water.
Yvette sat down on the sofa, set the snacks she was carrying on the table, and settled in to wait.
After some time, Evan spoke again, “By the way, there’s something else I need to remind you of Ms.
Foster
Yvette smiled warmly, exuding friendliness. “Mr. Gomez, what is it?”
Evan replied, “Please avoid mentioning Ms. Sullivan in front of Mr. Price.”
Yvette speculated, “Did something happen? Isn’t Zachary usually most concerned about his sister? Did they have a disagreement?”
Evan responded, “Regardless of the situation, Ms. Sulliyan has no relationship with the Prices. Please be mindful of what you say, Ms. Foster.”
Yvette smiled softly, “Alright, thank you for the reminder, Mr. Gomez.”
Once Evan left, Yvette lowered her lashes like dark feathers, holding the cup of water while masking her feelings. At that moment, her thoughts were unclear. After waiting for about half an hour, Zachary finally emerged from the meeting room. As soon as the office door opened; she heard his voice and promptly rose from the sofa.
“Regarding this project, you need to oversee it promptly. It must be underway before the year’s end?
Evan nodded, “Understood, Mr. Price.”
Zachary slipped his hand into his pocket and sat down at the desk, exuding an air of authority and detachment, as though no one could come close. He picked up a pen, uncapped it, glanced over the document, signed his name, and handed it to Evan.
Once they were alone in the office, Yvette slowly approached with the snacks in hand, “Zac, ever since you returned, we haven’t really had any time together.”
She moved behind him, gently placing her hands on his shoulders. A valuable blue diamond ring gleamed on her left hand. Zachary glanced at the items on the table, his expression darkening. “Did you go to the school?”

Noticing the displeasure in his voice, Yvette quickly explained, “Last time, I noticed you were eating. chestnut pastries, probably from the shopping mall near the university area. There’s only one shop that sells them. I had some free time today, so I picked some up for you. They should still be warm. Once they cool, the flavor changes.
Zachary asked, “What chestnut pastry?”
Yvette looked confused and replied, “Do you not recall ating it last month? Wasn’t it you who bought it?”
Zachary seemed to recall something and responded, “Don’t bother with small matters. Haven’t you been busy lately?”
The chestnut pastry was merely a treat that Jocelyn had brought back from the university area. She had waited in a long line to get it, only to find it too sugary for her taste. After taking a bite, she decided not to eat it and handed it over to him.
Zachary wasn’t one to waste food, so he ate it without a second thought.
Yvette paused and said, “What could I possibly be busy with? Given my condition, I’ve been drinking herbs daily and have no idea when I’ll start feeling better.
“In a few days, I’ll visit another traditional medicine doctor. You should take care of yourself. The company is busy, so I can’t be there with you.”
She hesitated, as if she had more to say. After a moment, she nervously added, “Zac, my mom mentioned that our engagement is approaching. They hope I can move to the Price Mansion soon to live with you.
“After all, it’s been over ten years since we last saw each other. My mom hopes that living together will help us build a connection. Honestly, I feel like you’re… quite unfamiliar to me.”
Zachary didn’t look up from what he was doing and remained absorbed in his tasks.
At that moment, his phone on the table began to ring. It was a call from the school.
