Chapter 19 Looking for Christian.
“Do you have anything to say to me?”
Christian remained expressionless. “No.”
Jocelyn didn’t press further, her thoughts elsewhere. Ashe headed back to class with her backpack, Margot approached her, saying, “Did you know Ms. Carter went to the library to keep an eye on you at noon? You didn’t see it. She was glaring at you and Christian like she was burning holes through you both. It was pretty scary.
“Luckily, you and Christian weren’t affected. Maybe that old witch didn’t expect you two to be studying.”
“Josic, you’re only a freshman. Do you need to stress this much?”
Jocelyn shook her head. “Next year, Christian will be heading to Dreunga University. If I don’t ask him now, I might not get another chance.”
Margot looked uncertain and then asked, “Could you ask Christian if he’d be willing to tutor me too? I can pay him for his time!”
Jocelyn hesitated at first, but when she thought about the tutoring fees, she agreed, “Alright, I’ll ask him
Christian’s family was struggling financially, and tutoring could earn him much more than working at a restaurant. Jocelyn selfishly wanted to help him live more comfortably.
Margot, being an only child with a decent financial situation, could afford the tutoring fees.
As the school day neared its end, the dismissal bell rang
Jocelyn spent the afternoon distracted. Earlier that day, she had noticed the strawberry keychain in Christian’s pocket. It was something they had bought together from the night market’s craft stall. Why was it now in his pocket?
She then remembered the suit that Zachary left at her place last night, along with her missing keychain. Shen felt a bit uneasy.
Could it be that Zachary went looking for Christian?
She tried to reassure herself that it was unlikely since she hadn’t mentioned Christian to Zachary
Still, she knew Zachary was sharp and might have figured things out.
What could Zachary have said to Christian?
Time flew by, and today was the last mock test.
During this period, Jocelyn noticed that Christian was intentionally avoiding her. Their encounters after school had become rare, and even when she tried to approach him, he would deliberately distance himself.

Jocelyn hadn’t reached out to Zachary for almost two weeks. She couldn’t get in touch with him and had given up caring.
After finishing the last math test, Jocelyn felt a sense of relief. She had done well as Christian had accurately predicted the questions.
Margot slumped over the table, lamenting, “I’m sure I’ll fail this test again. Josic, what should I do?
“Oh, by the way, didn’t I mention getting tutoring from Christian? How did that go? Did he agree?”
Jocelyn shook her head. “Let’s wait for a while. He’s too busy to deal with me right now.”
Margot curiously asked, “Did you two have a falling out”
Jocelyn chose not to answer.
It seemed Christian was preparing for a programming test.
After the test, it was Friday.
Jocelyn, with her backpack in tow, found herself wandering toward the commercial street in the university arça. She heard a familiar name on the news, “Zachary Price, CEO of Crypticorps, visited Sailtime Corporation in Seaville today. The companies have signed a strategic agreement for the Southriver Bay project. Tonight, he’s attending a lavish business banquet with his fiancée.”
Looking up, Jocelyn saw the large screen on the building displaying Yvette in a champagne–colored haute couture off–the–shoulder dress, with her hair styled and a pearl necklace around her neck. Her radiant skin and elegant demeanor, holding a wine glass and Zachary’s arm, drew everyone’s attention. Zachary, surrounded by business partners, stood out with an undeniable aura.
They were chatting with the business partners around them, looking calm and composed.
Jocelyn thought, They make a perfect pair!
Yvette’s beauty and elegance could captivate everyone.
In her past life, Jocelyn had envied Yvette’s charm and alent, which only made her increasingly unlike herself and twisted her thoughts.
When the street noise snapped her out of her thoughts, Jocelyn looked away as the financial news ended.
Relying on her memory, she went to an open–air barbecue restaurant, which was always full of customers every night.
It was still early, only after 7:00 pm. It usually got crowded by 9:00 pm.
“Miss, you look familiar in that school uniform. Are you from Fourville High School?”
The speaker was a middle–aged chef in a white uniform with a shaved head, likely in his 40s or 50s.
Jocelyn nodded. “Yes, I’m looking for Christian. Is he here?”
The chef replied, “Funny you should ask. Just five minutes ago, another girl was looking for him too. They’re in the kitchen, but it’s a bit messy there. Do you want me to call him out?”

Jocelyn glanced toward the kitchen and saw Margot washing vegetables on the floor.
Realizing something, she said calmly, “No, that’s alright Please don’t mention that I came by.”
“Hey, wait a minute… Why are you leaving so soon?”
When Jocelyn got home, she was overwhelmed with frustration.
She had almost forgotten that in her past life, Margot had been infatuated with Christian.
Margot had pursued Christian passionately. After being sent abroad by Zachary, Jocelyn had seen in the news that Christian married Margot. Sadly, Margot died in surgery while pregnant with Christian’s child- a heartbreaking event.
Jocelyn recalled this tragic incident, which she had read about in the newspaper years ago in her past life.
No one knew if Margot had had private contact with Christian, and Jocelyn had no way to find out.
Returning home on the last bus, Jocelyn sat at her desk after a shower, with the clock nearing 8:30 pm.
o her damp hair blowing in the fan, she stared at her Vormesh textbook, feeling restless. In frustration,
threw the book to the floor.
Around midnight, Christian was about to leave after changing out of his chef’s uniform when Margot sweaty and carrying a basket of vegetables, walked by him. “Chrisuan, where should I put !
