Chapter 5 Sister-in-Law
As the car window rolled down, Yvette recognized the familiar face inside. The woman gave her a warm
smile.
“Can we talk for a bit?”
Jocelyn nodded, opened the rear passenger door, and got in.
Yvette’s gentle eyes assessed Jocelyn. “You’re the girl who’s always with Zachary, right? I remember your name is Josie, isn’t it?”
Noticing Jocelyn’s nervousness, Yvette, with her delicate and fair hand, reached out and held Jocelyn’s. “Don’t be nervous. I’ll be your sister-in-law, so you can call me Yvette.
“I’ve only seen your photos before. I didn’t realize you were so pretty. When you grow up, you’ll be even more beautiful”
Jocelyn felt a bit inferior in front of Yvette and softly said, “Yvette.”
It clearly pleased Yvette, who smiled with a charming expression.
“Do you have a lot of homework today?”
“Not really. Is there something you want to talk about, Yvette?”
Yvette replied, I’ve been wanting to have a meal with you. I was in the area, I thought I’d stop by. Your brother is still busy with work and will be a bit late. Let’s go ahead and order some food while we wait.”
Jocelyn stayed quiet, not saying anything. Yvette knew Jocelyn had tried to end her life over the marriage between Yvette and Zachary. Clearly, Zachary had no idea Yvette was here.
Was this visit a way to test her?
To see if her feelings for Zachary were more than just those of a sibling-
After the car had been driven for over half an hour.
They arrived at Paramount, a traditional-style restaurant.
The restaurant manager greeted them with a big smile Welcome, Ms. Foster. Your reserved private room is ready. Let me show you the way.”
They walked into the spacious private room. Yvette took a seat gracefully, and Jocelyn sat next to her.
The restaurant manager personally greeted them and brought out a menu. Yvette took it and handed it to Jocelyn. “Have a look and see if there’s anything you’d like.”
Jocelyn glanced at the menu, where even the cheapest dish started at a hundred dollars.
With her current situation, she couldn’t afford any of these.
She nervously fiddled with the hem of her school uniform. “Yvette, I’m fine with anything.”

Noticing her anxiety, Yvette smiled and said, “Okay, lets go with your brother’s taste. He prefers lighter dishes, just like you.”
At Price Group.
Evan received a call from Paramount. When Zachary walked out of the conference room, Evan reported, “Mr. Price, Ms. Foster took Ms. Sullivan to Paramount. They just called to ask how much longer you’ll be.”
Zachary, dressed in a black suit and standing tall with His hands in his pockets, entered his office with a furrowed brow. “Who told her to go find Josie?”
Evan shook his head. “It seems Ms. Foster just bumped into Ms. Sullivan on her way.
Zachary said, “Cancel my other meetings and head to Paramount.”
Evan nodded. “Yes, sir.”
He had made it clear that no one was allowed to disturb her.
Yvette had always seen her presence as a threat. This time, Yvette was simply making a show of her position in front of her, subtly asserting her dominance.
She and Zachary were from completely different worlds-wealth and age set them apart.
In two years, Zachary would be thirty, while Jocelyn would still be only eighteen.
Her life was just getting started.
Jocelyn sipped her drink while Yvette took great care of her, ordering a variety of desserts that a fifteen or sixteen-year-old girl would enjoy.
By the time Zachary arrived, it was already seven in the evening, and the dishes had been gradually served.
Hearing footsteps outside the private room, Jocelyn felt a sudden rush of anxiety and tightly gripped the hem of her dress.
A moment later, the door to the private room opened.
When their eyes met, Jocelyn felt a wave of fear and quickly looked away from his intense gaze,
Yvette moved up and hooked her arm with Zachary’s. Why are you so late? Josie and I have been waiting for you for ages.
The air conditioning was on in the private room. Yvette acted like a devoted wife, taking off his coat and hanging it on a nearby rack. The way they interacted made them look like’ a happily married couple who had been together for years.
He was wearing just a black shirt with the top two buttons undone, showing off his fit physique, Zachary had an amazing build-slim but muscular, looking great in anything he wore. His looks could easily outshine any international model, and with him being the CEO of Price Group, it’s no wonder no woman could resist him.

along without asking.”
Zachary replied in his deep voice, “I’m not. How did the check-up at the hospital go today?”

Yvette smiled and said, “Don’t worry, the doctor said everything is fine. I’m planning to start trying for a baby soon, and since you need to be involved too, I won’t be ordering any wine for you.”
Trying for a baby
Suddenly, Jocelyn knocked over her drink. She quickly stood up.
Yvette hurriedly grabbed some napkins to wipe Jocelyn’s clothes. “How did you spill it? Let me take you to the bathroom to clean up.”
Jocelyn quickly said, “No, it’s okay. I’m fine. I’ll wash my uniform tomorrow anyway.”
Yvette said with concern, “If you’re uncomfortable, just let me know. I have a spare set of clothes in the
car.
Jocelyn shook her head. “It’s fine, really. No need to trouble yourself, Yvette.
She ignored the intense and piercing look Zachary gave her.
As she sat back down, she continued to quietly eat the food Yvette had served her. “Eat as much as you can. If there’s any leftover, we can pack it up for later.”
Zachary suddenly asked, “Do you have enough for living expenses?”
Jocelyn looked down and nodded. “Yeah, I’m fine.”
Zachary then took out a card from his black wallet. “Use this card for anything you need. And don’t eat leftovers. Your stomach can’t handle it.”
He remembered that when Jocelyn was in the orphanage, she often went without enough food and had to go hungry. Over time, this caused her stomach issues.
She couldn’t handle very cold foods, and eating leftovers always upset her stomach. Once, she had some leftover tomato and egg dish from the fridge and ended up with vomiting, diarrhea, and even stomach. bleeding that night.
Zachary rushed her to the hospital overnight and stayed by her side all night.
Jocelyn immediately waved her hand, saying, “I haven’t even spent the allowance you gave me before. 1 can’t take this, Zac.”
Yvette hid her emotions, took the card, and with a warm smile, handed it to her. “Just take the card if Zachary says so. It’s his way of showing he cares as an older brother. He has plenty of money now, so you don’t need to worry about saving for him. If you need more, you can always ask me, your sister-in-law.”
Yvette put the card into Jocelyn’s backpack. Jocelyn felt uncomfortable, as if the money was a form of charity.
“Oh, and by the way, your brother and I are getting engaged in a few months, Here’s the invitation. You definitely have to come.”
