Chapter 9 Reflection Essay
Brianna Carter was well–known for her lack of mercy and known as the witch in the regular liberal arts subjects, and was also a relative of Fourville High School’s education director. When Jocelyn and the others submitted their test paper from the front row, she nearly punctured the name section with a hole.
As the test papers were being gathered, Jocelyn nervously asked the person next to her, “You can’t see anything on the name part, can you?”
Margot swallowed hard and responded, “You should pray for the best.”
In the subsequent classes, Jocelyn was uneasy. She had previously faced criticism from the moral. education department due to rumors about–a relationship with Christian.
Time flew by, and during the final period, the moral education lesson, she was once again summoned to the office and given a stern reprimand.
Now that it was class time, she felt a sense of relief that there were no teachers present in the office.
A loud noise filled the room as the exam paper was slapped onto the desk.
-Jocelyn looked down at her toes, hunching her shoulders and remaining silent. “Jocelyn, are you here to
focus on your studies or to pursue relationships? Do you realize that if your grades keep falling, you’ll end up at the bottom of your class?
“How old are you? All you seem to care about is dating. Aren’t you embarrassed?”
Brianna adjusted her glasses, her face showing clear frustration. “Look at this! Look at the name at the top Do you think I won’t notice just because you’ve marked it out?”
Jocelyn nervously bit her lip, too scared to speak.
“Make sure your guardian comes in tomorrow,” she said.
When she heard about having her guardian come in, Jocelyn looked down again. “Ms. Carter, my brother has already returned to his family. I haven’t heard from him in a long time–the last time was over three months ago, and he’s about to get engaged. I don’t want to bother him.”
“Ms. Carter, I’m truly sorry!” Jocelyn bowed deeply, almost at a full ninety–degree angle. I’ve caused trouble for our class. Please give me one last chance. I promise this won’t happen again, and I will work hard from now on.”
Seeing the young girl before her, Brianna’s angry expression softened somewhat, replaced by a look of sympathy. Only she knew the full story–Jocelyn had been orphaned early due to her parents‘ accident, raised in an orphanage, and then taken in by a non–biological brother who likely saw her as a burden and had neglected her.
As a teacher, she wasn’t completely without compassion.
She said, “Don’t give me excuses. Last time, you made the same promise, and look at where we are now! “What am I supposed to do with you?
“You’re only fifteen or sixteen. If you get expelled, what will you do out in the world?”
Jocelyn replied anxiously, “Ms. Carter, I can write you a commitment letter. Using my academic record, I promise that I will definitely improve my ranking in the upcoming mock test.”
Brianna noticed the tears in her eyes and handed her a tissue. “First, wipe away your tears, then write at commitment letter. If you fail to do so, this will be reported to the education department, and you’ll face disciplinary action! You’re already on disciplinary probation. Another incident will definitely lead to your expel. Do you understand?”
Jocelyn nodded through her tears, saying, “Thank you, Ms. Carter. I understand.”
Instead of crying to get sympathy, it’s certainly preferable to avoid bringing Zachary into the school to create chaos, Jocelyn is most worried about not just getting into trouble herself, but also dragging Christian down with her.
She left the office, having just avoided a major issue.
When she got back to the classroom, Margot quietly leaned in and asked, “Did the witch punish you?”
Jocelyn nodded, saying, “It’s nothing much, just had to write a reflection essay.”
Margot nodded in response, “That’s not too terrible. Just be more careful next time. If you leave, I won’t have a sweet and gentle deskmate like you. You don’t realize how many people are jealous of you.”
During the last self–study lesson, when class ended, it was Jocelyn’s turn for duty. With the other person on sick leave, she was left to clean the classroom and erase the blackboard by herself.
The homework given today wasn’t too overwhelming. She stood on a chair, holding a bucket, and used a damp cloth to clean the blackboard. Without her noticing, someone silently appeared outside the door, arms crossed, leaning against it, and intently watching the girl on the stool as she struggled with the blackboard.
“Ah–hem, ah–hem… “A burly young guy with a rough appearance, his hand clenched into a half–fist, cleared his throat a few times near his lips.
wide with surprise. “You how did you get here?”
Jocelyn looked over, her eyes wide with surprise. “You
Christian was quite tall, and even though Jocelyn was standing on a small chair, holding a cleaning cloth, she could barely look him in the eye..
ristian asked as he took the cloth from her hand. Rolling up his sleeves, he “Are you on duty today?” revealed his tanned skin, with prominent veins running through his muscular arms, extending to his well- defined bones and slender fingers. The veins on his hands, now wringing out the cloth in the bucket, were quite striking.
After squeezing out the water and folding the cloth neatly, he casually extended his arm and easily reached the spots on the blackboard that Jocelyn had trouble reaching.
Jocelyn nodded, her eyes full of mixed emotions as she gazed at him, “Yeah. Aren’t you … ignoring me?”
Christian briefly paused his hand from cleaning the blackboard, then continued until he had wiped the entire surface clean.

He even grabbed the broom and took care of cleaning the entire classroom, including mopping the floor.
He completed every task that Jocelyn, the assigned duty student, was meant to handle.
With the final rays of the setting sun casting a long shadow, Jocelyn followed his movements with her gaze. feeling as though this moment was almost dreamlike.
In his previous life, Christian was the CEO of an internet company, yet he would still cook for her. Despite her being particular about food, he never lost his patience and always provided her with the finest things.
The jewelry that Zachary gifted to Yvette was something Christian would never let her miss out on. What he gave her was always far more valuable than anything Yvette received.
She couldn’t understand why she had turned away from Christian, who had always treated her so well.
Instead, she ended up choosing a man who never truly loved her!
“Hey, Christian!” Jocelyn called out as she stepped down from the chair. Suddenly, she spotted the homeroom teacher approaching from a distance. Without a second thought, she quickly pulled him behind the classroom door. “Stay quiet, my homeroom teacher is coming,” she whispered urgently.
Brianna glanced around the classroom. “Are you the only one on duty today?”
Jocelyn stood at the door and nodded, “Yes, Ms. Carter
Brianna noticed her pale face but didn’t give it much thought. She pointed outside and said, “Make sure you clean outside too, and don’t forget the 800–word reflection essay.”
Jocelyn nodded. “I understand, Ms. Carter.”
Once the teacher had gone, she let out a deep sigh of relief.
Christian was confused and asked, “What reflection essay?”
