Asher said, “No, I didn’t.” 

Daphne raised an eyebrow. “Why don’t you ask Mr. Kensington about it? You two are working together now. If he didn’t invite you, isn’t that a bit disrespectful?”

Daphne bit her lip, surprised that both Edith and Dana had been invited, while she and Asher hadn’t. 

Turning to Edith, she asked, “Edith, could I 

go with you tomorrow?” 

Edith’s expression soured. “Why? Go on your own if you want.” dith had never liked Daphne. 

If not for Daphne, her ideal daughter–in–law, Adair, would have been part of the family by now. 

However, Asher held significant influence since he managed the company well. Edith had no choice but to tolerate Daphne’s presence in her household. 

Daphne pressed on, “Elara and I are classmates. I’d like to see her wedding.” 

Edith replied, “But you still weren’t invited, Maybe she doesn’t want you there. Why force it?” 

“Maybe she just forgot. What’s the harm in me tagging along?” Daphne tried to reason. 

Edith cut her off. “Let’s not. The Hawthorne family’s wedding isn’t open to just anyone. If I bring you and they’re unhappy, what then?” 

Edith had connections with both Barrett and Evelyn. Getting an invitation hadn’t been difficult. 

But she had no intention of bringing Daphne, someone she disapproved of. 

Feeling the sting of Edith’s dismissal, Daphne forced a smile. “Fine. I’ll head to work then.”

She knew Edith didn’t respect her, but the blatant disdain still stung.

Her bridesmaids were Quarry and Cynthia, her college roommates who were both still unmarried. 

The three gathered at the Kensington family’s estate to prepare. 

Quarry stood nearby, watching as Elara slipped into her gown. “Elara, I can’t believe you’re marrying Mr. Blue–Blooded! I remember when you told us you were dating him, I thought you were joking.” 

Elara glanced at Quarry through the mirror, finding her comment amusing. 

She said, “It’s been so long. I almost forgot, but do you still remember? Besides, wasn’t that just Daphne’s scheme back then?” 

Quarry said, “Speaking of Daphne, she’s doing pretty well. My brother tried to set up a meeting with her company recently, but she wouldn’t even see him.”

Asher was a frequent visitor to the law firm Cynthia worked at, so they were well acquainted. 

“I’m here to see Elara,” Asher said plainly. 

The Kensington family’s estate was bustling with relatives that morning.

Cynthia turned back, looking at Elara. “Elara…” 

Elara stood and faced the doorway, her tone icy. “What do you want?”

Seeing him staring, Elara snapped, “If you have nothing to say, leave. It’s early, and I don’t recall inviting you to my wedding!” 

Her harsh tone didn’t faze Asher. Instead, he responded with an easy smile, “I heard you’re getting married. I just came to see you and brought a gift.” 

He stepped forward, holding out a box wrapped in red ribbon.
