Elara never expected Asher’s situation to deteriorate to such an extent.
It had only been two days since she stopped paying attention to fim, and he got beaten up and kidnapped. With a father like Jefferson, his life sure was eventful.
Elara had no intention of helping. “You should call the police. The police would probably be more useful than me.”
“No way!” Jefferson said anxiously, “We can’t call the police! They’ll hurt Asher if we do! What if he comes back missing an arm or a leg–you wouldn’t want to see that, would you?”
“Actually, I would,” Elara calmly replied.

After saying that, she saw Jefferson looking at her with extreme tension as if she were a wicked witch.
She wasn’t like this before. When Asher got into trouble before, she would be more anxious than anyone, Jefferson said inwardly.

“I will never gamble again! I was so stupid, but Asher is innocent in this matter. Please, just help me one last time!” Jefferson swore solemnly.
“Monica, take care of it. Go bring Asher back” Barrett glanced at his secretary.
Although he disliked Asher’s previous indifference toward Elara, Asher was just a child, and he hadn’t done anything too outrageous to deserve death
Barrett wouldn’t leave him to die.
Meanwhile, Elara remained silent because she knew that her father would still save Asher even if she said no. He had a friendship with Jefferson from their school days. It was impossible for him to go too far with things, let alone disregarding -such a promising young man.

Elara stepped out and looked at Lysander. “Why don’t you go back first?”
“Are you sure you can manage alone?” Lysander didn’t want to leave.
“Come with me?” Elara looked at him, asking tentatively.
Inviting Lysander along, she feared he might not be pleased. Though she had no feelings for Asher anymore, Lysander might not see it that way.
Tll go with you! It’s late now,” Lysander said.
“Alright! Let’s go together. Elara nodded.
After they got into the car, Elara instructed the driver to follow Monica’s car.
Soon, they arrived at an abandoned factory.
Monica had already called the police before arriving, and the kidnappers were captured.
Asher was brought out, looking quite disheveled.
Elara couldn’t help but sneer at the sight of his wretched state. For some reason, she found herself particularly delighted whenever she saw Asher in misfortune. It might be due to the horrific death she experienced in her past life, which twisted. her mentality a bit.
