Chapter 18

Salver moved swiftly through the dark corridors, his expression remained scared, as he made his way back to Orion’s quarters. The moment he stepped Inside, he bowed his head slightly and spoke in a clipped tone.
couldn’t hear anything, Master.
Orion, who had been lounging lazily against his wooden desk, lifted an eyebrow. His fingers tapped idly on the table.
“Nothing?” he repeated, tilting his head.
Sawyer clenched his jaw. “No matter how much I tried to penetrate, there was nothing. Almost like a barrier was shielding their thoughts.”
Orion’s amusement faded, and he sat up straighter, his gaze narrowing.
“A barrier?” he mused. “Interesting.”
He exhaled sharply before waving a hand. “What about the head maid?”
“She returned to her chambers,” Sawyer reported.
Orion scoffed. “Of course she did.” He stood abruptly, rolling his shoulders. “Bring her to me. Now.”
Sawyer gave a short nod before turning on his heels. Minutes later, the heavy doors opened again, and Nana, the head maid, stepped inside. Her hands were clasped tightly in front of her, her head bowed in submission, but Orion could see the tension in her shoulders.
She was afraid.
As she should be.
“Minister Orion,” she greeted formally.
Orion leaned back slightly, his gaze piercing. “What did the Alphas call you for?”
Nana hesitated for only a second before answering, her voice calm but firm. “With due respect, Minister, it is against the customs and rules of the palace to reveal an Alpha’s request.”
A resounding smack echoed through the room as Sawyer’s palm struck her face.
The force sent her stumbling, her lips parting in shock as pain bloomed across her cheek.
“Must I remind you who I am?” Sawyer sneered. His tone was sharp, laced with warning. “I am the second commander of the Night Moon Pack. The next time you defy us, Selena will bed me.”
A cold shiver ran through Nana’s spine.
Selena.
Her daughter.
Orion smirked at the flicker of fear that crossed Nana’s face. Good. She should be scared. “You know, I’ve always wanted your daughter to feel my cock,” he mused, his voice disturbingly casual. “Would be a shame if she ended up like the others.”
Nana’s breath hitched. She fell to her knees, bowing her head in desperate submission. “I’m sorry, Minister Orion,” she whispered. “The Alphas only called me to treat Alpha Damien’s maid.“/

Silence filled the room.
Orion stilled, his eyes darkening.
Damien.

The coldest of the four Alphas. The one who despised people, who avoided unnecessary interactions. The one who took Bethany.
And he had called the head maid for a simple maid?
His lips curled into a wicked grin. Just who the hell was this Bethany?
“Well, well,” he murmured, intrigued. “So Damien is taking care of a mere servant.”
Nana remained silent, her hands trembling slightly where they rested on the cold floor.
Orion’s grin widened. “Tell me, Nana,” he drawled. “What is their relationship?”
The head maid’s throat bobbed, but she kept her head lowered. “I do not know, Minister.”
Orion’s amusement flickered into something crueler. “Do you think she’s warming his bed?”
Nana swallowed hard. “I cannot say, Minister.”
Orion hummed thoughtfully. He studied the old woman for a long moment before his smile turned sharp.
“From now on,” he said smoothly, “you will report everything about that girl to me.”
The head maid’s breath hitched. “She is the Alpha’s maid.”
Orion clicked his tongue, feigning disappointment. “Should I ask Sawyer to bring your daughter here instead?”
Nana stiffened.
Orion arched an eyebrow. “Your loyalty is impressive, but let’s not pretend you don’t understand how things work, Nana.” His voice was deceptively soft. “I ask once. I do not ask twice.”
The room was suffocatingly silent.
Then, finally, Nana exhaled shakily and bowed her head even lower. “I will do as you ask, Minister Orion.”
A satisfied smile spread across his lips. “Good.”
He flicked his wrist dismissively. “Leave.”
Nana scrambled to her feet, bowed once more, and hurried out of the room, her hands clenched into fists at her sides.
Orion turned to Sawyer the moment the doors shut.
“Bring the girl here tomorrow,” he ordered, his voice thick with anticipation. “I want to bed her myself.”
Sawyer lifted a brow. “You think she’s special?”
Orion chuckled darkly. “If Damien is treating her like that, then she must be amazing in bed.”
Sawyer smirked. “Understood, Master.”
He bowed and left, the room falling into a heavy, expectant silence.

The so warmth of the bed pressed against Bethany’s back as she stirred wake. Her eyelids flattered open, and for a brief moment, she felt disoriented. The scem of leather, pine, and something distinctly masculine surrounded fier
Then it hit hes.
She wasn’t in the maids‘ quarters.
Again.
Her heart pounded as she sat up, her hands gripping the thick blanket draped over her legs. The large room was dimly lit, shadows stretching along the walls as the early morning light barely filtered through.
And then, she saw them.
Three Alphas. Sitting in the chairs beside her bed, their powerful forms relaxed in slumber.
She couldn’t help but stare.
How could men so cruel, so feared, look this… beautiful in sleep?
Warmth settled in her chest as she remembered the previous night. The rain. The cold. The way she had been unable to leave the spot where she stood. She had told herself she would, had even tried, but something held her back.
She had been afraid.
Afraid that if she left, they would find out.
“It seems our mates watched over us,” Starlight, her wolf, mused in the back of her mind.
Bethany flinched at the thought, a small, bitter smile tugging at her lips.
Mates? No.
Even if her wolf clung to that ridiculous hope, she knew better. One of them had been the reason she stood in the rain for hours, shivering and soaked to the bone.
But at least… it hadn’t been all three of them.
Her gaze lingered on their sleeping faces for a moment longer, then down their bodies, before she realized what she was doing..
She was checking them out,
Heat rushed to her cheeks, and she quickly tore her eyes away.
But before she could even move, a deep voice cut through the silence.
“Are you done staring?”
Her body stiffened.
Slowly, she turned her head to find Damien watching her, his golden eyes dark and unreadable.

Bethany scrambled off the bed, standing abruptly. She bowed her head, avoiding his gaze, but it was no use. Damien was already moving, rising from his seat with the slow, deliberate grace of a predator.
His aura was suffocating, Cold. Deadly.
Bethany instinctively stepped backward.
Once.
Twice.
Until her back hit the wall.
Damien stopped in front of her, his towering figure over her.
“Didn’t I warn you?” His voice was a low, quiet threat.
Bethany’s breath hitched.
“Never let my brothers and I notice your presence. Stay out of our way.”
She clenched her hands into fists, willing herself to remain composed.
Damien leaned in, his golden gaze sharp.
“How dare you, Omega, make my brothers crave your body?”
Bethany’s lips parted slightly, shocked at his words.
“You must want our cocks so badly,” he continued, his voice turning cruel. “Isn’t that why you’re trying so hard to make them notice you?”
Bethany felt her stomach twist.
What?
She shook her head quickly. “No-”
“Silence.”
Damien’s words were like ice.
Bethany swallowed, her throat dry. She had never wanted them to see her. Never wanted to be caught in their gaze.
But he he was twisting everything.
Damien exhaled sharply, his jaw ticking in frustration.
“Make sure to stay out of our way,” he ordered coldly. “Do not let them notice you again.”
Bethany bit her lip, nodding slowly.
“Good. Now leave.”
Her legs felt heavy as she turned, walking away without another word.
She didn’t look back, but her mind raced.
What kind of man was he?

One moment, he was punishing people who hurt her. The next, he was sleeping in the same room, making sure she was cared for.
And now…
Now he was speaking to her like she was nothing.
Bethany inhaled shakily as she stepped out of the room, trying to convince herself of the truth.
He wasn’t protecting het.
He wasn’t being kind.
Damien wasn’t sweet.
He was forced to do it.
And if she wasn’t careful, she would be crushed under his power like everyone else.
