Chapter 20
Bethany’s POV
The moment I stepped into Minister Orion’s apartment, my stomach dropped.
Sawyer, the guard who had escorted me, motioned for me to stand near the entrance. He did not explain before turning and leaving, shutting the door behind him.
I swallowed, my throat dry. My nerves were on edge, every fiber of my being telling me that I shouldn’t be here, I should run.
Why had Minister Orion called me so late at night?
I rubbed my arms, suddenly feeling cold and I tried to steel myself for whatever was coming.
Minutes stretched in silence until, finally, the door on the far side of the room creaked open.
Minister Orion stepped in. His sharp gaze locked onto me like a hunter who had cornered his prey.
My muscles tensed.
“Minister Orion,” I greeted, my voice steady despite the fear crawling up my spine. “I was told you sent for me.”
A slow smirk curled his lips as he took a step closer. His dark eyes raked over me, lingering far too long in a way that made my skin crawl. I fought the urge to cover my chest.
“Yes,” he murmured. “And now that I see you up close… I understand why Damien wanted you for himself.” His eyes darkened and it worried me. “You are a beauty to behold.”
I clenched my fists.
He let out a low chuckle. “I suppose I didn’t make a wrong decision to have you tonight.”
My breath hitched.
What?
Before I could process his words, Orion took another step forward, his smirk deepening.
“Undress,” he ordered. “I’ll be fucking you tonight.”
A cold chill raced down my spine. My body locked in place as if the words themselves had frozen me.
Imust have misheard him.
I had to have misheard him.
“What?” I whispered, barely recognizing my voice.
Orion’s expression remained unreadable, except for the gleam of amusement in his eyes.
“I won’t repeat myself,” he said. “Undress. Or I’ll have my guards do it for you.”
My stomach twisted violently.
No. No, no, no.
My mind raced, searching for an escape, but there was none. He was a minister—the second most powerful man in the entire pack. If I refused, there

Is this how I’m going to lose my virginity?
Panic colled inside me like a snake.
No. Don’t
The voice of my wolf, Starlight, echoed in my mind, filled with desperation.
Only our mate has the right to our body.
A bitter laugh bubbled up inside me. And where is our mate to save us now?
No one cared about me. Not Damien. Not his brothers. No one.
I had survived alone for this long.
I forced myself to breathe, to push down the fear threatening to consume me.
Orion stepped closer, his fingers grazing my arm. My entire body recoiled from his touch.
thad no way out.
No one was coming to save me.
Trembling, I reached for the hem of my dress. My vision blurred, my hands shaking so violently I could barely grip the fabric.
I fell to my knees, my voice cracking as I pleaded. “Please… don’t make me do this.”
Orion stilled, then let out a cruel laugh.
“You think begging will save you?” He grabbed my chin, tilting my face up so I was forced to meet his gaze. “Do you love Damien and his brothers? Is that it? Are they the ones you want instead of me?”
shook my head frantically. “No, I don’t want them.”
His fingers tightened around my jaw. “Liar,”
I winced.
“Your eyes betray you,” he murmured, his gaze piercing. “It’s written all over your face.”
My chest tightened.
Before I could react, Orion’s hand gripped my hair, yanking my head back.
“I’ll show you what happens to girls who defy me,” he whispered darkly.
Terror paralyzed me.

“Do not make a sound, he ordered his voice like ice. “If you do, your little friend Melanie will pay the price.”
The door slammed shut, locking me inside.
1 pressed my trembling hands against my mouth, suppressing the sob threatening to escape.
Outside, I could hear the deep, commanding voice of Damien.
“What are you doing here, Orion?”
My heart pounded wildly.
They were here.
The brothers had come.
“You will keep quiet or I’ll go after your previous roommate. Melanie, was it?”
I held my tongue as Orion shoved me into a small dark room.
Outside, Damien’s voice cut through the silence like a blade.
“I heard you had my maid here.”
Orion’s reply was smooth, too smooth. “Your maid? That is not true. I didn’t have your maid.”
Liar.
clenched my fists, pressing my back against the wall. The air felt heavy, suffocating.
Then Damien spoke again, his voice sharp, edged with barely restrained fury.
“I hope it was never true. I hope I never see her with you without my permission.”
My breath hitched. His permission? What the hell does that mean?
Orion shifted uncomfortably. “Never, Alpha.”
Darnien wasn’t finished. His next words sent a cold shiver down my spine.
“I’ve been hearing rumors,” he said, his voice deadly calm. “That you’ve been killing toys and maids inside the palace. Forcing them into sex marathons until their bodies couldn’t take it.” A pause, thick with unspoken threat. “Don’t make me investigate your atrocities, Orion.”

They… telt?
My chest tightened painfully
They knew I was here. I was sure of it. They had to have caught my scent. And yet… they walked away?
A bitter laugh bubbled in my throat.
Why? If they weren’t going to save me, then why provoke Orion at all? Why make him angrier?
Now, I was certain. I would be among those dead toys tonight.
The thought made bile rise in my throat.
Then, the voice I dreaded most called out.
“Come out.”
1 froze.
No.
No, no, no.
I wasn’t ready for this. I would never be ready for this and yet I pushed the door open.
