Chapter 27
Third–Person POV
Orion barely had time to bask in the glory of his plans when Sawyer walked back in again looking nervous.
“What now?” He barked.
Sawyer bowed his head. “Master. I’ll send the message immediately. I just… I remembered that the warlock said you don’t need to involve yourself directly in their murder.”
Orion scoffed. “If I don’t kill them now, they’ll cause trouble later. The warlock doesn’t understand that I need to do this.”
Sawyer nodded, but he still looked worried. “And if someone asks who’s responsible? Who takes the fall?”
Orion smirked. “When the time comes, we’ll know how to cross that bridge.”
Just then, the door swung open.
Katrina strode in, her piercing gaze sweeping over Orion and Sawyer. “What are you plotting again?”
Orion leaned back in his chair, a slow smirk spreading across his face. “That’s the first thing you say after seeing your cousin after months of… frolicking
around?”
Katrina rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. “That’s because every time I see you and your guards like this, it means you’re plotting something.”
Sawyer cleared his throat. “Miss Katrina,” he greeted with a respectful nod before slipping out of the room.
Orion tilted his head, watching her. “I bet you paraded yourself around Damien and his brothers, greeting them like royalty–even before greeting your cousin.” His smirk widened. “Are you respecting them more than me now?”
Katrina sighed, shaking her head. “Are we doing this again? Discussing who’s more superior between you and the Alphas?”
“They are Alphas,” Orion grumbled, pressing his lips in a flat line before he continued. “But what if I become an Alpha, too? After all, their grandparents and ours founded this pack together.”
Katrina’s expression darkened. “I hope you’re not getting any dangerous ideas.”
“No ideas,” Orion said smoothly. “Just a question.”
Katrina narrowed her eyes but let it go. “Forget it. You’re upset because I haven’t visited. I’m here now, aren’t I?” She reached into a small bag and pulled out a neatly wrapped package. “This is for you.”
Orion took it, inspecting the gift before nodding approvingly. “It’s good.”
Katrina sighed in relief before changing the topic. “What do you know about Bethany? The woman around the Alphas?”
Orion chuckled darkly. “A new sex toy they rejected. Damien stopped her from becoming mine and made her his maid instead.”
Katrina’s brows furrowed. “What? Why would he make her his maid after rejecting her?”
Orion leaned back, feigning thoughtfulness. “I think he wanted her, too.”
Katrina frowned. “That doesn’t make sense. If they wanted her, they wouldn’t have rejected her in the first place. There must be something more.”
Orion’s eyes glinted. “Like what?”
Katrina shook her head. “I don’t know.,, but all of them seem drawn to her. Not just Damien.”

Chapter 27
Orion’s smirk widened. “Are you suggesting they all want her?”
Katrina scoffed. “No. They can’t want her.” Her jaw tightened, her voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. “Because if they do, she’s playing with death. No one can take my place.”
A tense silence followed.
Katrina exhaled sharply. “I’ll find out what’s going on when Damon and Declan return.”
Orion’s smirk barely wavered. “Must you wait for them?”
His voice was light, but there was something cold behind it. He already knew those men wouldn’t be returning.
Katrina, unaware of his thoughts, shrugged. “They’re the easiest to manipulate. If I ask Daniel, he might read my memories.”
Orion hummed in agreement. “I could take you somewhere… where they can block his ability from your mind. Like I did.”
Katrina’s lips pressed into a thin line. “No. I need them to trust me. Blocking him would only make them suspicious.”
Orion watched her carefully before smiling. “Be careful, cousin. If you’re not careful, you might just end up losing everything.”
Katrina lifted her chin. “I never lose.”
Orion chuckled. “We’ll see.”
His smirk faded as he leaned back, staring at the ceiling. “Why do you think the Moon Goddess gifted them all with such power?”
His voice was quiet, but there was an edge of bitterness. He curled his fists, clenching them in anger. “Everything they have–strength, speed, abilities beyond any normal wolf–it was all handed to them. And yet they don’t even realize how vulnerable that power makes them.”
Katrina raised a brow. “Vulnerable?” She scoffed. “Orion, that power is the very reason this pack has risen to where it is today. No other pack in the world can withstand us.”
Katrina laughed in glee at the thoughts of all four Alphas. “Without them, our pack would be just like every other pack. Lost and forgotten. Weak and the same. With those monsters? We have everything.”
Orion’s jaw clenched. He knew she was right, but he hated it. Hated that the Alphas were the chosen ones, that they stood above everyone else— including him.
“I could do it too,” he muttered under his breath. “I could build this pack, lead it better than they ever have.”
Katrina narrowed her eyes. “You’re playing with fire, Orion.”
He merely smirked, his fingers tapping idly against the arm of his chair. “And what’s life without a little fire?”
“You’ll get burned. And trust me burns are ugly as hell.”
Orion shrugged. “I don’t mind, Katrina.”
Katrina sighed, already tired of this conversation. “I should go. But if I find out anything about Bethany and the Alphas, I’ll let you know.”
Orion nodded. “Good. Keep me informed.”
She turned to leave, but before stepping out, she cast one last glance over her shoulder, her lips curling into a confident smile. “Trust me, cousin. I always get what I need… and I will get this.”
With that, she was gone.
“Of course you will,” Orion chuckled after her. “You’re my cousin after all.”
