BETHANY’S POV
A gasp slipped from my lips when I saw who it was. Alpha Damien stood a few meters away, eyes blazing in fury. I swallowed when his eyes fell on me. He tooked like he could shap my neck any minute. My heart pounded loud and hard against my rib cage and I feared for a minute that it would jump out my
throat
Could everyone else feel the murderous aura i felt recently?
“What’s the Alpha doing here?” Whispers filled the room.
“They never come in here, only us ministers and the measly guards do,”
“Why is he confronting Orion?”
The minister whose lap I sat on gave a sigh and slowly lifted me off his lap, pushing me to the ground. I groaned as my knees hit the floor, tears burning my eyes in pain.
A deep growl resounded in the quiet halls.
“Alpha-“Orion said, bowing slightly though he had a bitter look on his face. “We all know every woman here, in this hall, is fair and square game to the ministers and guards.”
I shuddered when he dragged me towards him, giving a wide grin. “And this girl is in here in the hall, isn’t she, Alpha?”
Alpha Damien growled, taking a step forward. I could feel and hear every man gasping in fear, cowering at the sheet dominance that emanated from him.
Our mates, the voice in my head yipped excitedly.
They have come for us, finally! They want us‘
I shivered wondering why my wolf seemed so hung on thinking our mates actually cared for us.
They rejected us. I don’t think he’s here out of care for us, I snapped at my wolf and she snorted.

You’ve been absent for twenty one years, I wanted to scream back. I don’t even know the first thing about you. You abandoned me, I thought I was wolfless. I don’t even know your name.
There was silence in my head before she replied.
I am your wolf, I am Starlight and-”
“Get your hands off her Orion or I shall rip it apart!” Alpha Damien snarled and the air in the room turned several degrees colder.
“As you wish, Alpha,” Minister Orion grumbled and stepped away. I could hear his mumblings of displeasure and the murmurings of others as well.
“What’s the Alpha doing?”
“What does he want with her?”
“Why is he here? Is he merely picking a fight?”
That only made me even more terrified. Why would they think that? Did the Alpha tend to pick fights more often? Did.they just kill for the fun of it?
I remembered the masked Alpha from the day before and shuddered. Were we just playthings to them and nothing more?

Chapter 6
“And you?!” The Alpha bellowed jolting me out of my thoughts. I whimpered, clasping my hands tightly together and kept my head bowed.
“Yes. Alpha?”
I didn’t hear anything from him for a while, but I felt his presence when he took a few steps closer. His heat swaddled me when he stopped just before me and swallowed fearfully.
“Were you not told not to join the sex toys?” He hissed, cupping my jaw. “Look at me,”
I sucked in a breath when I looked up. I had thought he was good looking, but now, seeing him up close? He was gorgeous. Cold, dangerous and fearfully gorgeous. His gaze roams my face, causing my cheeks to heat up and then slowly fall on my lips while he speaks.
“You are to be my personal maid after being rejected by my brothers and I, were you not told that?”
What? I frowned, unsure of what on earth was as going on. What personal maid?
“A personal maid?” Minister Orion scoffed. “Since when have you kept a personal maid, Alpha?”
“And since when have you earned the right to question me, Orion?” Damian retorted, glaring at him. “You will hold your tongue or I will teach you how to do that.”
“I was merely stating a observation, Alpha,” Orion muttered.
“I changed my mind,” Alpha Damien snapped, dropping his hands from my face. “I need a personal maid and she is mine. Mine, Orion. Do you have anything against it? I would be too glad to accept a challenge.”
There was a haughty smirk on the Alpha’s face as he spoke. He was confident he would win. And there was something terribly sexy about that.
No, no, there’s nothing sexy about it!
“No, Alpha. I have nothing against it,”
“Good,” He turned to me, brows knitted in a frown. “And what are you still doing here?! GO!”
My entire body launched into action at the command. I bowed and went. I had no idea where I was going. My feet carried me to the door while I was in a daze processing what had just happened while hurrying out of the hall from every watchful eye.
I didn’t breathe until I was out of the hall and found a wall to lean against, placing a hand on my chest. My heart pounded so hard, it felt like it would launch out of my chest if it pounded any harder.
“What are you doing out here?” The head maid inquired, watching me with narrowed eyes. “You have not been marked or tattooed. Why are you out of the hall?”
I swallowed, pushing myself off the wall. “Ah… I… Alpha Damien asked me to leave the hall. He said I was his personal maid.”
The head maid scoffed. “Personal maid? The Alpha, especially Alpha Damien, hates being close to anyone. The last thing he would ever get is a personal
maid. Why would he choose you?”
‘Because he wants us‘, Starlight gushed.
‘Didn’t I tell you? Our mates will come for us.
I wanted to find a pan to hit my head with but Alpha Damian walked out of the hall and the thought fizzled out of my head. I and the head maid bowed our heads low and blood rushed through my ears.
“Go and wait for me,” He said, cupping my face, taking in his fill of my face before walking away.
I and the head maid exchanged glances when he was out of sight.
