Chapter 21
Cendering that we weren’t related. Tristan had done more than enough for me. Perhaps he helped me out of react for the Lambert family and my brother.
Those unrealistic thoughts of mine soon vanished into thin air
The test results came back okay. The swelling in my brain was decreasing, and the vomiting last night was due to post–concussion syndrome
with the report in hand, I felt a weight lift off my chest. I was still young. I didn’t want to die
I didn’t know why I was so impulsive, jumping off the building before I lost my memory. If I had the chance to do it again, I would’ve dragged that scumbag Jameson down with me.
“The doctor said you’re fine, so why are you being so dramatic, Wynonna?
That irritating voice pierced through my thoughts once more.
frowned as Jameson approached, a chill running down my spine. Instinctively, I hid behind Jason.
Jason stood in front of me, looking clearly displeased. “Mr. Brown, the doctor said Ms. Lambert is stable for now, but that doesn’t mean she’s completely out of the woods. Please don’t upset her any further.
Jameson halted in front of me, a sinister smile curling on his lips. “Wynonna, I must admit you’ve succeeded this time. Xandra is leaving. You’ve won.”
Xandra? Not her again!
Π
I frowned. “What does it matter to me if she leaves? Jameson, don’t pin this all on me. I’m not taking the blame for this.”
Jameson sneered. “Isn’t your goal to force her to leave? Now that you’ve succeeded, shouldn’t you be happy about it?”
I laughed, anger bubbling beneath the surface. “Is this really the first time Xandra has left you? If she truly loved you, she wouldn’t have left in the first place.
Jameson was taken aback. For once, he didn’t respond with his usual sarcasm.
I turned away in disgust. I really didn’t want to see Jameson. He looked so intelligent on the outside, but inside, he was nothing but a fool.
I couldn’t recall why Xandra left Jameson back then, but according to Chloe, if Xandra had wanted to, she could have easily married him. However, she chose to study abroad instead.
It was clear to everyone that Xandra prioritized her studies and future above all else, and

Jameson simply didn’t hold the same significance for her.
Who would allow distance to drive a wedge between them if their love was genuine?
As the saying went, if a person truly loved someone, they could overcome any obstacle. Those who could be separated simply didn’t love each other enough.
My retort left Jameson speechless, and he stood there in stunned silence.
I tugged at Jason’s arm and said, “Let’s go.”
Jason glanced coldly at the stunned Jameson. “Mr. Brown, please step aside.”
Jameson suddenly snapped out of it. His eyes darkened as he stepped in front of me.” Wynonna, you can’t leave,” he declared.
1 stifleger and asked,
my “What do you want?”
“You’re coming back with me.” His words were a command, not a request.
I scoffed. “I’m not going back.”
Jameson seemed to think I was joking. He scoffed disdainfully. “I won’t argue with you now that you’re angry. I’ll give you three days. Come back to me in three days.”
“And then what? Become the Mrs. Brown you despise? So we can keep fighting, and I become a laughingstock?”
Once again, Jameson was left speechless. After a long pause, he managed to say, “We can avoid arguing. As long as you don’t cause any trouble, we can still-”
I scoffed, cutting him off. “Still what? Still pretend to be the perfect couple for everyone? Jameson, let’s be clear. I’m not going to be your Mrs. Brown anymore. I’m not qualified, I’m tired, and I’m giving up, okay?”
Jameson’s face turned ashen. “Wynonna…”
I didn’t want to waste any more words on him.
