Chapter 29
I was at a loss for words.
Now, I could truly see how irrational I had been before I lost my memory.
I had actually asked Chloe to create a fake account to spy on him, all in a desperate attempt to catch him cheating. No wonder Jameson and everyone else disliked me.
I furrowed my brows and asked incredulously, “Do you mean to say that I actually told you to create a fake account? If I had those screenshots, then why didn’t Jameson believe me back then?”
Chloe glared at me. “Because you were too afraid to show them to him. The first time you sent them, Xandra claimed that you had photoshopped them, and Jameson chose to believe her instead of you.‘
I was stunned. “So, I lost to Xandra just like that? Is Jameson really that foolish?”
Chloe let out a weary sigh. “He’s not foolish. He just doesn’t love you. Since he doesn’t love you, he won’t believe anything you say, no matter how convincing. Deep down, I think you knew that, which was why you hesitated to show him those things.”
I fell silent.
It was true. If someone didn’t love a person, they wouldn’t believe them.
True love didn’t require any proof.
A man who genuinely loved me would have kept his distance from Xandra out of concern for my feelings, without needing any evidence.
I suddenly recalled how Tristan had treated Camila the night before. It then became clear to me just how much people feared comparisons.
Tristan had remarked, “Crying and making a scene late at night will only frighten Wyn.”
Then, I finally grasped what it meant for a person to be protective of someone they loved.
I found myself getting a bit lost in my thoughts.
Chloe waved her hand in front of my face. “What are you smiling about?”
I snapped back to reality. “Nothing. I was just thinking that Jameson is such an idiot.”
Chloe cursed under her breath and then said, “You’re absolutely right!”
I smiled bitterly. “Chloe, was I ever that pathetic in love?”
Chloe’s smile faded, and she fell silent.
Chapter 29
I let out a self–deprecating chuckle. “I know. I must have looked so pathetic in front of Jameson,”
Chloe patted my shoulder. “Don’t worry. What goes around comes around. Jameson will get what he deserves, and so will Xandra.”
I shook my head. “I just want a divorce.”
“Ms. Lambert, you…”
Xandra stood in the doorway of the examination room, staring at me in shock.
I furrowed my brows. It seemed like she was everywhere these days.
Xandra and Jameson were truly a perfect match. They always seemed to know exactly where to find me and then say the most appalling things while doing the most revolting things.
Chloe jumped up like a startled cat when she spotted Xandra.
She quickly blocked Xandra’s way and said, “What are you doing here? I’m warning you. Don’t play any games. I’m recording this.”
Xandra flinched but quickly regained her composure. “Ms. Lambert, I came to see you,” she said confidently.
I had no desire to meet with her and dismissed her curtly. “I’m sorry, but I don’t want to see
you.”
She sounded sincere as she replied, “There must have been a misunderstanding about last
night. I…”
I noticed the sparkling diamond ring on her finger and couldn’t help but smirk.
Xandra followed my gaze to her ring, and without hesitation, she slipped it off and handed it to me. “Ms. Lambert, if this is about the diamond ring Jameson gave to me, I can return it.”
I laughed softly. “Ms. Clark, that ring is a gift from him to you. I have no interest in taking it.”
Chloe stood in front of her and sneered. “Xandra, you’re so shameless. Are you trying to provoke Wyn with this ring? I suggest that you give up and get out of here.”
Xandra’s eyes welled up with tears. “Ms. Lambert, please let me explain. This diamond…”
“Enough!” I cut her off sharply. “I don’t want to hear it. Let me be clear. I’m no longer in love with Jameson. I couldn’t care less if he brings you flowers, takes you out to dinner, or sleeps with you.
“Just get out of my sight and never come back. I’m going to divorce him. If you want him, he’s all yours.”
