Chapter 36
I tugged on Tristan’s sleeve. “I don’t want to see him.”
Tristan glanced at me. “Just wait in the car.”
I hesitated. “What about you? It looks like they called the police.”
Tristan said, “It’s fine. You and Chloe can get in the car first. I’ll have the driver take you home.
I nodded and pulled Chloe along to leave immediately.
But Jameson quickly blocked our path. He struggled to keep his anger in check as he reached for me and said, “Come back with me.
I took a step back and dodged his hand. With a frown, I replied, “I’m not going back.”
Chloe stood in front of him. “Jameson, what does it matter that you had a bunch of your lackeys beaten up? Your friends insulted Wyn first. They had it coming!”
Jameson stared at me, his face paling to a sickly green. “Wynonna, you never learn, do you? I really thought you were serious this time, but here you are, stirring up trouble again.”
He sneered and asked, “Who taught you that?”
His gaze then flickered to Tristan, making his meaning clear. He was convinced that Tristan was the one behind all this chaos I was causing.
I scoffed. “Mr. Brown, why do you care who I beat up? You can’t seriously think that I did that to get your attention.”
Jameson chuckled, and a flicker of disdain glimmered in his eyes. “Isn’t that exactly the case? You paid them so that you could follow me, but now that you’re out of cash, you’ve resorted to beating them up for my attention. How thoughtful of you.”
I turned to Chloe and asked, “Is this guy out of his mind? He really thinks that I beat those people up just to get his attention.”
Chloe, who was always ready to back me up, clicked her tongue and replied, “Yeah. Who would have thought that the prestigious CEO of Brown Corporation would be such a lunatic? Wyn, we need to steer clear of him. I’m worried that his craziness will drag us down with him.”
Jameson’s expression hardened at our words. He reached out to grab me, but a hand quickly seized his wrist.
He turned to Tristan with a cold glare. “Mr. Zook, we meet again.”
Tristan didn’t release his grip as he turned to me and asked, “Aren’t you going back to the car?

I quickly pulled Chloe away.
From behind us, I could hear Jameson say with a sneer, “Mr. Zook, your taste is quite peculiar.”
Tristan remained calm. “I don’t quite understand your joke, Mr. Brown.”
Jameson’s voice was so loud that it caught everyone’s attention as he said, “Mr. Zook, I didn’t expect you to have a fetish for married women. But since you’re interested in the woman I no longer want, it’s actually quite convenient for me to pass this unwanted burden on to you.”
The air thickened with tension.
Chloe gripped my hand tightly.
My eyes burned as I glared at Jameson, who met my gaze with his head held high in defiance.
I could smell the blood in my nostrils. My body felt warm, but a chilling dread crept into my heart.
Laughter echoed around me, followed by loud, mocking voices.
My vision blurred as I scanned the crowd. Everyone was staring at me with a mix of pity and contempt. Their silent scorn chipped away at my self–esteem, piece by piece.
I had no memory of how I left. But suddenly, I found myself back at the Zook residence.
Chloe was gently wiping my face and hands.
That was when I noticed the deep crescents that my nails had carved into my palms.
I let out a shaky breath.
When Chloe saw that I was regaining my composure, she patted her chest and exclaimed, “Oh my goodness! My dear, I’m so glad you’re alright. You scared me half to death back there.”
A strange calmness washed over me. “Did Ethan call the police?”
Chloe scoffed. “What good would that do? The police showed up and asked a few questions before leaving. Jameson must have silenced his lackeys. It’s like the whole thing had never happened.”
“Where’s Tristan?” I asked.
Chloe hesitated for a moment. “He seems to be dealing with something.”
She looked at me with concern. “Wyn, what are you going to do now?” Without a moment’s hesitation, I replied, “I’m getting a divorce.”
