Chapter 40
I was completely taken aback, which made me feel dizzy again.
I shook uncontrollably, and an inexplicable ache settled in my heart. The intensity of the pain was profound, entirely distinct from the dull discomfort I’d experienced in the past. It felt as
though my heart was on the verge of shattering.
I discovered that even in a state of amnesia, I could still feel the pain. My body had retained all
the memories.
It was a scam. It had all been a scam set up by Jameson and Xandra. Throughout our five years
of marriage, Jameson had never lost touch with Xandra.
They had manipulated and sacrificed me as if I had deserved it. I was foolish, and everyone
was well aware of it. I was too shocked to believe it.
I used to believe that I was crazy and desperate for love, which made others dislike me. Now, I realized that it was all a conspiracy, a sinister plan.
Jameson had consented to my pursuit and subsequently agreed to marry me, which was a
scheme meticulously orchestrated by him and Xandra. It was a calculated deception, a tactic often referred to as a “romance game“. And regrettably, I was the unsuspecting victim.
I wanted to laugh, but the pain in my heart was too much. I held my chest as tears streamed
down my face.
They were still arguing outside, but I was done listening. Both Jameson and Xandra were dirty, and this place was even worse.
I felt an overwhelming urge to scream and break everything around me, yet I remained still. Instead, I crouched in the walk–in closet, listening to the arguments outside.
“Enough, Xan! Why are you bringing up the past? Have I ever treated you unfairly? Wynonna is such a crazy woman, but I still endured her for five years just for you. Isn’t that enough? I’m tired too. Can’t you see where I’m coming from?
Xandra stopped crying and said coquettishly, “Then, swear that you love me, Jameson.”
Jameson’s tone was brimming with irritation and a sense of detachment as he replied, “I love
you.”
Xandra seemed to lean in as she said shyly, “Jameson, I love you so much. If Wynonna wants a divorce, then let her go. We’ll figure out another way to keep the money.”
Jameson paused and replied, “We can’t get a divorce right now.”
Xandra exclaimed, “Why not?”
Jameson explained, “It’s complicated, as it involves the shares. You wouldn’t get it.”

I felt an overwhelming wave of nausea that quickly became unavoidable. I pushed open the closet’s door before collapsing onto the floor and vomiting. After wiping my mouth, I glanced up at the two standing in front of me.
I erupted into laughter as tears streamed down my face. “Jameson, you’re incredible. You tricked me into marriage and misled me into using the Lambert family’s funds. Not only that, you also played with my feelings…”
Jameson turned pale. “No…”
Yet, he stopped talking as soon as he realized what he had said.
Xandra clutched Jameson in disbelief, her body trembling against his. “Jameson, why is she here? I’m terrified. Please, you have to make her leave.”
I stood up unsteadily and looked at the smug expression on Xandra’s face. Then, I asked, ” Xandra, do your parents know that you’re such a disgusting person?”
