Chapter 45
I said nothing and pulled Chloe out. We ran to the car and sat inside. I was trembling, clutching the bracelet tightly, and unable to speak.
Chloe sensed that something was off with me and gave me a strong pat. “What happened?”
I cried as I showed Chloe the torn family photo and replied, “Jameson ripped it and broke one of the bracelets my grandma gave me.”
Chloe’s expression shifted dramatically. After a brief moment of shock, she exclaimed, “That bastard! I’m going to take him down!”
She grabbed the golf club again, flung open the car door, and hurried back into the house. I could hear the sound of shattering and chaos within. I tried to stay calm. Then, I dialed a number using Chloe’s phone.
The call connected, and Tristan greeted gently, “Hello, Ms. Thompson. What can I do for you?”
I sobbed as I said, “Tristan, it’s me. Can you come over here? I… I might be in trouble.”
I couldn’t hold back my tears again after saying that.
Tristan’s voice turned cold and serious. “Wyn, where are you?”
I provided my address, but before I could explain the situation, Tristan interrupted, “Stay put, Someone will arrive to pick you up in ten minutes.”
I wiped my tears and steadied myself. “Tristan, where are you?”
I gazed at the broken opal bracelet and torn photo in my lap, and tears began to flow again.
Tristan replied, “I’m currently at the airport and unable to reach there so soon. Stay there and wait.”
After that, he hung up the phone. I continued to wait in the car. A little while later, Chloe came. out. Just then, the police arrived, likely called by Xandra.
I pulled Chloe into the car and locked the door. She was shaking with anger and said, “Wyn, don’t worry, I’ll handle this.”
Ten minutes later, two friendly–looking men arrived and spoke with the police. Then, someone knocked on our car door.
“We’re the lawyers from Zook Corporation. I’m Jeffrey Zimmerman, and this is Daniel Wright. We’ll handle your legal matters moving forward.
Chloe was stunned, and so was I. We were soon taken to the police station.
I was unsure how the two lawyers negotiated our release, but within less than an hour, Chloe

and I were both set free.

Chloe put my feelings above her own and reassured me, “Wyn, there’s no need to worry. I’m alright. Don’t be too sad.”
I felt guilty. “It’s my fault. I caused the trouble.”
Chloe sighed. “You didn’t do anything wrong. Don’t be guilty.”
Afterward, Daniel escorted Chloe back home. At the same time, Jeffrey had me taken to the hospital for a checkup, after which I returned to the Zook residence.
When I reached, I spotted Tristan seated in the living room alongside a kind–looking elderly man with gray hair. The man, dressed in a suit, appeared healthy and had a sharp, imposing
gaze.
Upon spotting me, he looked taken aback and exclaimed, “Is she from the Lambert family?”
Tristan replied, “Indeed, she is Charles‘ sister and will be staying with me for the next few days.”
He gestured for me to approach and said, “Come meet Mr. Lucas Quigley, the president of the Chamber of Commerce. He knows Mr. Young and has met your brother Charles.”
I wasn’t familiar with the identity of the elderly man, but the fact that Tristan could introduce him personally indicated his significance. I bowed respectfully and said, “Hi, Mr. Quigley. My name is Wynonna Lambert, and I’m the daughter of Logan Young.”
Mr. Quigley examined me closely and smiled. “It’s hard to believe the last time I saw you, you were just a child!”
I asked, “Mr. Quigley, do you know my dad?”
Mr. Quigley beamed. “Yes, I do.”
My eyes filled with tears, and I wanted to ask more questions, but Mr. Quigley was leaving. He told Tristan. “I’ll discuss what you said with my team later.‘
Tristan maintained a calm expression, smiling as he replied, “Alright, I look forward to your updates. I’ll see you out.”
Then, they exchanged pleasantries and left.
Meanwhile, I sat in the living room, staring at the broken opal bracelet and torn photo
wrapped in a handkerchief. I was acutely aware of how embarrassed and disoriented I must have appeared.
After seeing Mr. Quigley off, Tristan entered and immediately noticed the items on my lap. He approached me and asked, “What’s wrong, Wyn?”
