Chapter 50
Uriah leaned in, and a strong cologne scent filled the air.
I immediately turned away.
This man practically had the word “flirt” written on his forehead. I had no doubt that most
women would fall head over heels for his charm.
I took a step back and said, “Mr. Zook, you’re mistaken. I’m not your brother’s girlfriend.”
As the words left my mouth, my face flushed red in embarrassment. This was the first time I’d
ever said such words.
Especially in front of someone so flirty and attractive, I felt uneasy and uncertain about how to respond.
Uriah clearly noticed my discomfort.
He intentionally lowered his head and whispered, “If you’re not my brother’s girlfriend, then perhaps you could be mine?”
The heat of his breath sent a shiver down my spine, causing me to stumble a few steps back.
I could feel my face burning with embarrassment.
“Mr. Zook, please show some respect… I’m not here to look for that sort of relationship…”
Suddenly, something clicked in my mind, and I added, “You know my name, so you should be
aware of what kind of person I am.”
Uriah nodded briefly, but the amusement in his eyes only grew more evident.
“I’ve heard of you. You’re the spoiled eldest daughter of the Lambert family.” His voice was smooth and deep, and it sounded melodic. Nevertheless, his words were far from pleasant.
“Your reputation isn’t exactly the best, and neither is mine. That makes us a great match, don’t you agree?”
My expression darkened and I snapped, “Mr. Zook, I’ve already told you. Please be more respectful.”
Noticing my annoyance, he chuckled.
“Are you upset? Don’t be. Let me make it up to you with a nice meal.”
I was genuinely annoyed with his persistence.
I returned to my room. However, just as I was about to close the door, he stopped me.
Uriah passed me a business card through the crack of the door and shot me a wink.

“Here’s my number and email. Feel free to drop me a text, Ms. Lambert.”
What a lunatic!
I pushed his hands away coldly and slammed the door shut.
Nevertheless, I could still hear him mutter from the other side of the door, “What a feisty one. She’s quite a handful… but I do love a challenge.”
His words made my blood boil. I was tempted to go back out and put him in his place, just like
I had with Ethan.
However, I realized that this was the Zook residence, and I was merely a guest here.
I ended up staying in the room for the entire day, skipping dinner altogether.
I had no idea whether Uriah or Camila had left.
Nevertheless, in order to prevent bumping into any more unfamiliar faces, I decided to just skip dinner.
The maids had knocked on my door several times, but I told them that I wasn’t hungry.
It wasn’t until late at night that I started to feel hungry. Therefore, I quickly forced myself to go to bed.
I had a nightmare that night–one where I was kneeling in front of the Lambert residence,
crying.
“Mom, Dad, please forgive me… I made a mistake… Please, let me in!”
“Wyn, just leave. You broke Mom’s and Dad’s hearts and brought disgrace to the entire Lambert family.”
I turned around abruptly and saw my brother, Chares, standing behind me. He wore a black suit and was holding a black umbrella. His face looked cold and distant.
I ran to him.
“Charles, please help me! I was wrong… I made a terrible mistake…”
Charles pulled his hand away from mine and replied coldly, “Wyn, some mistakes can never be forgiven.”
“No, Charles!”
I cried so hard that I struggled to catch my breath.
“Wyn, wake up!” a voice suddenly called out to me.
I jolted awake and saw someone standing beside my bed.
