Chapter 51
“It’s me.”
A gentle voice broke the silence of the dark room. It was oddly comforting.
The bedside lamp clicked on, casting a soft warm light on his face.
It was Tristan.
As I reached up to wipe my face, I realized that it was wet with tears.
Tristan remained silent. He got up and took a warm towel before gently wiping my face.
“Did you have another bad dream?” he asked. “You were crying just now.”
“Did I say anything?” I asked him back.
Tristan looked at me with his dark eyes. “I heard you calling for your parents… and out your brother’s name as well.”
A sharp pain pierced through my heart.
Tristan carefully studied me and asked, “Are you feeling better now?”
I nodded, though still feeling a bit shaken up.
you called
I paused briefly before asking, “Tristan, you knew, didn’t you? About my family cutting ties with me.”
Tristan appeared to be taken aback by my sudden question. He paused briefly before nodding in response.
I chuckled bitterly and said, “None of you told me…”
His expression remained indifferent. “There was no point in telling you. What’s the use of dwelling on the past?”
I covered my face with my hands. “I can’t go home anymore…”
Tears began to well up in my eyes once again.
He patted my head gently. “Don’t cry. Come on, get up and have some dinner.”
Just as I was about to refuse, my stomach growled.
In the quiet room, the sound was impossible to miss.
Tristan chuckled softly and before I knew it, he was pulling me out of bed.
When we made it downstairs, I realized that the living room and dining area were empty.
He removed his blazer and said, “Have a seat. I’ll see what’s left in the kitchen.”
I took a seat at the round dining table.
A few minutes later, the aroma of garlic and herbs filled the room.
I quickly made my way toward the kitchen to see that Tristan was preparing pasta,
“Tristan, you don’t have to do this. Let me do it,” said as I rushed over.
He immediately stopped me. “Go back to the table. I’m almost done,”
Since he was much taller than me, he easily nudged me out of the kitchen,
I peeked through the doorway and saw steam rising from the pot, creating a cozy feel as he moved around effortlessly in the kitchen.
After standing there awkwardly for a brief moment, I realized that there was indeed nothing much I could do. Therefore, I made my way back to the table,
Five minutes later, Tristan stepped out of the kitchen with a large plate in his hands.
With his refined looks, he looked like he was serving a delicate dish at a fancy restaurant rather than a simple plate of pasta.
He set the plate down in front of me and said, “Go ahead. Eat up.”
I hesitated. “I shouldn’t have troubled you… Have you eaten, Tristan?”
“I had dinner outside. When I came back, I realized that you skipped dinner, so I thought I’d cook something for you. Try it.”
At first, I ate slowly, minding my table manners. However, the hunger caught up with me, and I couldn’t help but eat faster.
Before I knew it, my plate was empty. I set my fork down, feeling content,
When I looked up, I found Tristan looking at me with a smile on his face.
I wiped my mouth in embarrassment. “I… I was starving…”
He chuckled. “No worries. I’m just glad to see that you finished it. If you hadn’t, I would’ve thought my cooking was awful.
“Did it taste alright?” he asked.
I quickly nodded. “It was delicious.”
He handed me a napkin. “You’ve got some sauce on your face. Here, wipe it off.”
A bit confused, I took the napkin and wiped my face.
He shook his head and said, “Not there…”
Then, he took the napkin from me and wiped the corner of my mouth. His long and slender

fingers brushed against my lips.
My face flushed red.
However, Tristan didn’t shy away. Instead, his gaze locked with mine.
