Natasha’s expression was stony as she stared at the limited edition necklaces I was holding. I knew that she must be kicking herself now, because these necklaces were rare and difficult to get. If she wanted them, then she had to pay the price that I named. She would not be able to get her hands on these necklaces otherwise.
Soon, the appraiser came up with the total price for me, which came up to 453 thousand dollars. I nodded, satisfied, and quickly signed the agreement he offered me.
Meanwhile, Natasha stamped her foot angrily. With no other choice, she bought the two. necklaces from earlier at the prices I had set at 20 thousand dollars and 35 thousand dollars
each.
Once she and her boyfriend left, Chloe and I laughed so hard that our bellies hurt.
Chloe yanked on my arm. “You were so evil! How did you know that Natasha would give in and buy those necklaces anyway?”
I guffawed. “Because I made her play herself. At first, she just wanted to humiliate me and scoop up a deal or two for herself. However, her boyfriend knows nothing about jewelry.
“He only wanted to spend a little on her, but Natasha wanted him to pay for everything while. trying to act as though she’s above it all. That’s how I knew that she’d cave and buy those necklaces.
“Even if she didn’t buy those necklaces herself, she’d nag her friends to buy them instead. But anyway, it feels great to turn the tables on her and humiliate her.”
Chloe grinned. “And you got an extra 10 thousand dollars out of the transaction too. Those necklaces were worth less than the prices you mentioned.”
I was in high spirits as I looked at my bank account balance on my phone. It was nice to have money in the bank. Getting to humiliate Natasha and get her to stop bothering me for a while was a bonus.
As I was looking at my phone screen, someone called me. I didn’t recognize the number, so I reflexively declined it. However, they kept calling me. At the same time, I got a text message.
“Hello, Ms. Lambert. I have an appointment with you as your fashion designer,” it read.
I answered the call. A friendly and cheerful voice answered me. “Is this Ms. Lambert? I’m your personal fashion designer. I was wondering if you have the time to make a trip to our studio? I can design a whole new outfit for you.
“I haven’t hired anyone. Who did?”
I heard the sound of pages being flipped before I got an answer. “Oh, it was Mr. Zook who asked us to get in touch with you. I’m sorry if I bothered you.’

Mr. Zook? Was it Tristan?
My heart leaped, and I smiled once more. “Sure, I can come to your studio, but I’ll only arrive this afternoon.”
And so, I arranged a time to meet with this “Andrew” person at his studio.
After I hung up, Chloe winked at me. “I heard everything. So, Mr. Zook hired someone to personally design a dress for you. Tell me, did he agree to be your plus one for the party?”
My face burned.
Right then, a navy blue Bentley came to a screeching halt in front of Chloe and me, startling us. The door swung open to reveal James, who came charging angrily at me. Soon, he was in my space. Before I could react, he grabbed my arm with a stormy expression on his face.
“Who gave you permission to sell the jewelry I bought you, Wynonna?”
His grip was strong. My arm was in agony. Fear spread through me when I recalled that time. he dislocated my arm.
“Don’t break my arm! Please!” I screamed.
Jameson froze, but he loosened his grip.
Having snapped back to reality, Chloe grabbed her bag to hit Jameson, but he shoved her away. “Get in the car!” he said to me coldly.
