Chapter 84
All I wanted was to find Charles.
“I really saw him. I did! It was Charles. It was him…” I burst into tears. “Please, let me find Charles. I have to find Charles…”
Then, I was pulled into a warm, broad embrace, as if I were a rare treasure being cherished.
I caught the familiar scent of pine and a strange yet intoxicating fragrance. It was a clean, masculine scent. I had only ever encountered it on Charles.
Tristan gently soothed me, saying, “Don’t cry. Be a good girl, Wyn. You saw him; it was Charles. It was him. You weren’t mistaken.”
I cried even louder, but he wouldn’t let me struggle to get out of bed.
Tristan held me close, trying to keep me still in bed.
“Don’t get worked up,” he said sternly. “The doctor said you’ve got another head injury. You can’t get agitated again.”
I gradually calmed down as Tristan’s weight pressed against me.
After a moment of quiet, I mumbled, “I’m okay now, so you can let me go.”
Tristan slowly released me. To keep me calm, he sat on the edge of the bed and stared at me intently.
I wiped away my tears and asked hoarsely, “Where’s Charles?”
Tristan sighed deeply and replied, “He said he doesn’t want to see you right now.”
My tears fell again.
“Why? I beg you. Please tell me why,” I choked out. “Is it because of some unforgivable mistakes I made in the past that he doesn’t want to see me?”
Tristan clamped his lips shut. Silence was his answer.
I cried again.
Tristan handed me a tissue, and I looked up with blurry eyes.
“Wipe your tears and stop crying,” he said.
“But Charles…” I felt like crying again.
Tristan suddenly covered my mouth and said, “I told you, don’t cry.”
With his slender hand over my lips, I realized how large it was–big enough to cover the entire lower half of my face.

Seeing that I had finally calmed down, Tristan slowly said, “Charles is still in the country. He just needs some time to think things through, but I believe you two will reconcile one day.”
I looked up at him with teary eyes. My hand involuntarily grabbed his sleeve. “Really?” I asked.
Tristan nodded and said firmly, “Yes. So right now, you must focus on recovering from your injuries, then prepare to fight.”
“Fight?” I felt lost. “Fight for what?”
Tristan asked calmly, “Don’t you want justice for everything you’ve been through?”
I was taken aback. After a long while, I nodded seriously.
Tristan laughed. He patted my head as he always did and said, “Good girl.”
I impulsively took his hand and placed it against my cheek. I looked at him earnestly. “Tristan, you have to help me,” I pleaded.
Tristan seemed slightly startled. Then, he gently wiped away the remaining tears from my face with his slender finger.
“Okay,” he replied softly.
The next day, I found out from Chloe that she immediately contacted Tristan after Jameson dragged me away.
Tristan filed a police report about the incident right away. However, since I hadn’t been missing long enough, the police were reluctant to start a search.
After Tristan’s lawyer dealt with the police, they finally agreed to review the traffic cameras and use the surveillance system to track down Jameson’s car.
Cranbel was a large city, which made it nearly impossible to find a specific car.
Fortunately, Jameson didn’t intentionally hide his whereabouts, so the police were able to. locate the villa in the suburbs without much trouble.
That’s how they found me.
I stopped Chloe mid–sentence and asked nervously, “Did you see clearly? Was it Charles?”
Chloe nodded and replied, “Yes, it seems Charles is in Cranbel. As soon as he heard the news, he went crazy and rushed over. He was the first one to kick down the door and charge in.
“Mr. Zook couldn’t stop him at all. After you fainted, Charles went berserk and landed a few punches on Jameson. If the police hadn’t arrived in time, that scumbag might have been seriously injured.”
I felt a mix of happiness and anxiety after hearing what Chloe said.

I was happy that Charles was still willing to protect me. He still treated me like his precious little sister. But I was worried about whether he would forgive me.
Chloe seemed to read my mind. She reassured me and said, “Wyn, just focus on getting better for now. Everything will work out in the end.”
