Chapter 94
“All the injustice she suffered in the past was my fault,” Tristan said. “From now on, she is my girlfriend, and she will become my wife.”
I began to tremble, and tears threatened to fall from my eyes. No matter how hard I tried to control my tears, they welled up in the corners of my eyes.
I couldn’t make out the expressions on everyone’s faces, nor did I want to see the dark look that had taken over Jameson’s face.
Tristan was standing up for me and giving me his unwavering support publicly. He was using the power of his name to erase my disgraceful past, to wash my name clean of any shame.
Jameson looked as though he wanted to lash out, but was held back by Xandra.
She spoke with a soft voice. “Congratulations, Mr. Zook. Congratulations to you too, Ms. Lambert.”
Xandra’s delicate face revealed a trace of jealousy and envy that was barely noticeable. She turned to Jameson, who wore a dark expression, then said, “Jameson, look at how bravely Mr.
Zook is fighting for love. Shouldn’t we…”
Jameson suddenly let out a cold laugh. “Shouldn’t we, what?”
Xandra froze, completely taken aback. She didn’t seem to understand why Jameson chose not to retaliate given the perfect opportunity had come.
If Jameson declared that he loved her, and had nothing to do with me, the tension in the room might have eased. At least it might have made everyone involved look better.
That said, Jameson coldly pushed her hand away and fixed his gaze on me. He enunciated each word, “I have no relationship with Xandra.”
Xandra’s face visibly paled.
Jameson took a step forward and continued, “My wife is the daughter of the Lambert family, Wynonna Lambert. We’ve been married for five years. Even though we had countless arguments and quarrels, we never considered a divorce.”
He shot a mocking glance at Tristan. “Mr. Zook, it’s common for competition in business. It’s nothing new to fight each other for benefits. But as the heir of the prestigious Zook family, do you really need to go after someone else’s wife?”
A collective gasp rippled through the room.
Mr. Bloom looked unhappy. “Jameson, that’s not something you should say.”
Jameson sneered. “What else is there to say? I knew nothing good would come of this
gathering today, but I didn’t expect it to be this.”

I couldn’t hold back any longer and retorted with cold sarcasm, “Mr. Brown, did five days in police detention not give you enough time to reflect on what you did wrong?”
Jameson’s face went pale. He gritted his teeth and said, “Wynonna, I gave you several chances to come back. You’ve always been ungrateful-“|
I cut him off, disgusted. “Why should I be grateful? Don’t forget that I was the one who saved your crumbling Brown Corporation in the first place.”
I turned to address the powerful figures around the table, “Dear gentlemen, I’m Charles Lambert’s sister. Years ago, I used my brother’s money to help Jameson. I owe him nothing.”
I continued talking to Jameson, “For five years, I treated you with sincerity. But in return, received neither gratitude nor respect from you.
I
I laughed bitterly. “If you don’t love me, why won’t you let me go? What’s this nonsense about stealing someone’s wife? Jameson, don’t think that the world revolves around you. And don’t think that just because you once had something, you’ll have it forever.”
Watching the color drain from his face, I added, “End things respectfully–that’s all I have left to say to you.”
Jameson stared at me for a long time until Xandra tugged at his sleeve. Still, he shook her off. Then, he laughed all of a sudden. “Fine, Wynonna. I finally believe that you want a divorce.” I exhaled a deep sigh of relief. “Thank you.”
Jameson shifted his gaze toward Tristan. “Mr. Zook, now would you care to share your real motive for tonight?”
Hearing that, all eyes turned toward Tristan, including mine. I clutched his sleeve nervously, and I could feel the cold sweat on my palms.
Tristan smirked slightly. “I have no other motives. I just wanted to inform everyone here, including you, Mr. Zook, that I love Wyn.”
Jameson scoffed. “And what is this supposed to be?”
Tristan’s face turned serious. “It’s a formal announcement.”
