Jameson snorted. “You were always jealous of her, spreading rumors and threatening her. You’ve done many bad things. Today, you’re just using the same tricks again.”
I had grown numb to his accusations. I turned to the staff and said, “Get the security footage. It will reveal the truth of what happened.”
As soon as I said that, Jameson’s expression shifted, and Xandra looked downright guilty.
She immediately flung herself into Jameson’s arms. “Jameson, let it go. It’s not a serious injury. Maybe Ms. Lambert didn’t do it on purpose. She just slipped and accidentally cut me.”
She turned to me and asked, “Ms. Lambert, isn’t that right?”
I remained expressionless. “Whether it’s true or not isn’t for me to say. After all, Mr. Brown hasn’t seen the truth yet and has already assumed I hurt someone.”
Xandra hurriedly tried to charm Jameson again. “Jameson, there are so many important people here. My injury is trivial. It was really my clumsiness that caused this. It has nothing to do with Ms. Lambert.”
Jameson hesitated at her words.
I waved my hand dismissively. “No need to say more. Get the security footage. If I did injure Ms. Clark, I’ll take responsibility for it. But if I didn’t?” I fixed a provocative gaze on Jameson.
His expression turned grim. “If it wasn’t you… then we’ll just let it go.
I scoffed. “Let it go? Mr. Brown, those are some insane double–standards you have there. Why should I bear the blame alone?”
Jameson fell silent at that. He frowned before saying, “Wynonna, what tricks are you trying to pull this time?”
He paused for a moment, as if coming to a realization. Then, he sneered. “I get it. You just want to make me look bad, don’t you?”
I had no desire to continue this conversation. I touched my chest and felt relieved that the dull pain that was once there had not shown itself anymore.
“Mr. Brown, if it turns out that Ms. Clark injured herself, shouldn’t you apologize to Wyn?”
Tristan was walking over together with Mr. Bloom and Mr. Langford.
Under Tristan’s gaze, Jameson seemed unable to stand his ground.
After a long pause, Jameson said, “Fine. If we find out…”
Before finishing his sentence, he suddenly looked up at Tristan. “If this woman hurt Xan,

Tristan replied with a half–smile, “Are we upping the stakes here?”
Jameson didn’t respond, but his meaning was clear.
The feeling of disgust within me intensified. Tristan came to my side and glanced at me.

Then, he said slowly, “If Wyn was the one who hurt Ms. Clark, I will willingly hand over the Baythorn project to Mr. Brown.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Jameson eagerly agreed, “Okay! It’s a deal!”
I furrowed my brows and tugged at Tristan’s sleeve disapprovingly. “Why should you hand it over to him?”
Tristan smiled gently at me, then asked Jameson, “Mr. Brown, what if you’re wrong?”
Jameson gritted his teeth and hesitated for a long time before finally saying, “Then… I’ll compensate Ms. Lambert 100 thousand dollars for the emotional distress.‘
The two older gentlemen beside us shook their heads. It was clear they understood Jameson
couldn’t afford to lose.
Tristan smiled and agreed readily, “Sure.”

After a while, the security footage was retrieved.
The truth came to light. I was arranging flowers when Xandra came over to talk. Then, she grabbed the scissors, which I hadn’t even noticed.
Xandra had aimed the scissors at my face. Just as I put down the flower, my hand bumped into the scissors, causing Xandra to accidentally cut her own arm.
Everyone present watched the footage, and all eyes turned toward Xandra.
Her face was drained of color.
As if on cue, Xandra started crying. “I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to! I just wanted to help Ms. Lambert cut the flowers! I didn’t expect…”
Her sobs couldn’t evoke sympathy, for the footage was crystal clear. Everyone could see exactly what had happened.
Jameson’s expression crumbled completely. He yanked his arm away from Xandra, furiously scolding her, “I can’t believe you would do this!”
Xandra clung to his sleeve, crying. “Jameson, let me explain! It was an accident! I swear it wasn’t intentional!”
Tristan spoke calmly from the side. “Mr. Brown, you should apologize.”

Jameson stared at me, struggling to spit out a single phrase. “Ms. Lambert, I’m sorry. I’ll send
over the 100 thousand dollars shortly.”
After he spoke, his face turned pale as he pulled Xandra and left.
