My gaze fixed on the source of the commotion – Daxon Johnson stood in the center of the group, his smug expression making my blood boil. Just yesterday he’d threatened me about the upcoming conference, and now he was here at my factory.

I took a deep breath and approached Daxon, who was barking orders at his men. He turned when he noticed me, his lips curling into a mocking smile.
“Ah, Knight. Perfect timing. I was just explaining to your people that this facility requires immediate inspection.”
“Under whose authority?” I asked, maintaining a calm facade.
Daxon pulled out an official–looking document and waved it in my face. “Qua…y inspection department. We’ve received reports that your facility is using substandard materials. Can’t have potentially dangerous medicines circulating, can we?”
The workers behind me whispered anxiously. This factory wasn’t just my livelihood – it was theirs too. Dozens of families depended on the wages earned here.
“If you want to inspect, fine,” I said. “But I know you’re lying. Every herb in this facility meets or exceeds quality standards.”
Daxon shrugged. “We’ll see about that.”

I watched as Daxon’s men spread through the factory, handling our precious herbs with deliberate roughness. They were clearly looking to cause damage rather than conduct an actual inspection. When one “inspector” knocked over a tray of carefully sorted leaves, Elder Hansen hurried to save them.

The inspector sneered. “My apologies,” he said without an ounce of sincerity.

“This is ridiculous,” I said, stepping forward. “You’re abusing your position for personal revenge. What’s really going on here, Daxon? Still bitter about our little verbal dispute last year?”
Daxon’s face twitched, confirming my suspicion. “This is official business, Knight.”
“Is it? Because it looks like harassment to me.
He stepped closer, lowering his voice so only I could hear. “Let me make this clear – 1 can find as many ‘problems‘ as I want. I can shut this whole place down today if I choose.”
“On what grounds?” I challenged.
“Does it matter?” He smiled coldly. “Once production stops, how long befo your clients look elsewhere? How many employees will you lose? How much money will bleed away while you fight me through official channels?”
My hands clenched into fists. He had me trapped in bureaucratic red tape, and he
knew it.

Two of his men moved toward our main storage warehouse, where months of carefully cultivated and processed herbs were stored. The loss would be devastating.
I moved quickly, positioning myself in front of the warehouse door. “You’re not touching anything in there.”
“Are you obstructing an official investigation?” Daxon’s eyes narrowed dangerously. He reached into his jacket and pulled out a gun. “That’s a serious offense, Knight.”
The sight of the weapon sent my workers scrambling for cover. Elder Hansen remained nearby, his face pale but determined.
“This has gone far enough,” I said. “Put that away before someone gets hurt.”
“The only one getting hurt will be you if you don’t move,” Daxon snarled, aiming the gun at my chest.
In a flash, I lunged forward and grabbed his wrist, applying just enough, essure to make him drop the weapon. Before it could hit the ground, I caught it and crushed the barrel in my grip, rendering it useless.

He hesitated, uncertainty flashing in his eyes before his arrogance reasserted itself. “Fine. I’ll call the Deputy Chief right now. We’ll see who he sides with.”
As Daxon pulled out his phone, a black car with official license plates pulled into the factory grounds. The tinted windows rolled down, revealing two familiar faces: the Deputy Chief himself and Commander Keller.
“Is that…?” Elder Hansen whispered beside me.
I nodded, relief washing over me. “Perfect timing.”
From inside the car, I could hear the Deputy Chief speaking to Commander Keller, unaware of the confrontation they were about to walk into.
