The next two days were hectic for me because even after the back and forth with Aidan about not buying a whole house, right after we finished from the boutique and got changed into
warmer clothes, Aidan signed the papers to a new building, and handed the keys over to me.
The house was flashy, massive, spacious, and more of a home. than was befitting for just me and Nadia.
All through the signing process, my mind did a whole marathon of speculating about the many ways that the day would end, but to my surprise, Aidan left almost immediately, after making sure that we had everything we needed.
When I asked him where he was off to, he told me he was going back to his hotel suite.
And just like that, Nadia and I had Aidan’s new home to ourselves till ours was repaired.
Nadia was currently in school, and I had just finished putting up some plants and furniture around to make the place look more cozy when I heard my phone ring
Picking it up, it was Jenna.
“Where are you, Tara?” She asked abruptly over the noise in her background.

“Well, hello to you too, Jen. I’m fine, thank you. Just a little rough, you know, but I’m splendid. And hey, thanks for not asking.”
Her amused voice came through from the other end of the call.
“You’re so dramatic. But really, where are you? We’re supposed to hook up.”
Already sensing my mess up, I threw in a light joke.
“What do you mean hook up? Are we a bunch of horny teenagers?” I asked with a snort.
“Tara,” Jenna called out, sounding more like a warning. agreed to meet up today. Spa and drinks, remember?”

I had completely forgotten, having been caught up with work, but she didn’t have to hear that from me.
Throwing a glance at my watch, I saw that I had an hour till the time we were supposed to meet.
“I remember,” I chipped in quickly. “But there’s still time before. our appointment, right? Or did something change?” I asked.
She replied. “No, nothing changed. It’s just that knowing you, you would have most likely gotten caught up in something and forgotten all about our date, or mixed the time up. I’m just calling to remind you, so don’t be late.”
Nodding even though she couldn’t see me, I said goodbye before ending the call.
I decided to take a quick shower to get the sweat from working for so long off me, and I settled on my outfit.

Making sure that the doors were properly locked, I made my way over to the spa and was glad that I got there just in time.
Jenna and I had a great afternoon getting our skins pampered, and we chatted to catch up on the things we missed out on.
When they finished with us, Jenna insisted we got our nails and hair done to complete the job.
I agreed since it had been months since I had anyone take care of me like that.
I kept assuring myself that it wasn’t because of a certain possessive alpha who almost melted my panties by doing so little only a few days back, but even I knew that I wasn’t entirely being honest with myself.
“This is a nice way to relax and be rewarded for the stress of being an adult, is it not?” Jenna asked as the lady painted her nails in a bright red color.
I settled on baby pink.
“Uh–huh,” I responded with my eyes closed and the back of my head on the headrest, unable to form too many words.
This was the time for relaxing and nothing else.
“How have you and Nadia been settling in?” She changed the topic, and I peeled one of my eyes open to look at her.
“You can say it, Jenna. You don’t like Aidan one bit.”
She shrugged. “It’s not that I don’t like him. I’m just being cautious.”

“I understand,” I said, nodding. “And we’re settling in fine.”

“I just want you to be happy,” Jenna said, and I could hear the sincerity in her voice. “And if you’re happy with the way things are, then I am happy for you. But that doesn’t mean I’ll reciprocate the energy toward him.”
I nodded again, not knowing what to say.
“How about the leak? Has it been found?” I changed the topic this time.
“I’ll be helping those in charge track what I can, but at least the houses have started to be cleaned out. You and Nadia should have your space back soon.”
That was good news to my ears because most of Nadia’s things for school were in the house and since the flood, wê hadn’t been able to collect them.
She had to improvise and use what was available or get new things for those we couldn’t improvise for, but Nadia r sed her own things. She was happy with the spacious playground, the swimming pool, and the massive television, but she needed her things too.
Silence returned to the room as me and Jenna went back to enjoying our time.
Jenna’s phone rang once, interrupting the peace, and she groaned in irritation, earning her a laugh from me. She let it ring without picking it up, and the call ended.
Unluckily for her, the caller really wanted or needed to get a hold of Jenna as they wouldn’t stop calling, so she had no choice but

“Hello?”
You could even hear the irritation in her voice, but once the person on the line started talking, Jenna’s expression took on a serious edge.
I noticed Jenna tense up, and the atmosphere around her changed, I sat a little higher in my seat, getting alert.
Listening but not making out what the person was saying, I waited patiently for her to finish the call.
“I’ll be there in twenty minutes,” Jenna confirmed as she gently pried her hand out of the lady’s touch, almost smearing her just- made nails.
I saw the protest in the attendant’s eyes, so I mouthed “sorry” to her, letting her know that Jenna was done.
“Is everything okay, Jen?” I asked once she put the phe away.
“I’m so sorry, Tara, but we can’t do drinks after this. I have to go. They need me at the pack borders.”
I nodded my head frantically. That wasn’t even the issue right
now.
“I understand, but what’s happening? Your mood just changed.”
“Nothing serious,” she replied. “Not yet, or at least I hope so..It’s just that the guards on duty sighted some StoneWolves lurking, which is very unusual. Let me just make sure everything is okay,” she said.
