We had to wait for Aidan to make some calls to ensure that we were safe to enter the streets before we could leave the
hospital. Since we had Nadia now, taking such a risk was out of the question.
I didn’t bother speaking to Nadia about her actions right there in the hospital. I needed her to be safe at home first before I would do that.
Motherhood did put a test on your patience sometimes.
Aidan came back to meet us in the hallway after he had taken his call. We were sitting on one of the benches, and Nadia was snuggled up against me.
“We can leave, but it’s a long walk from here, so Jace is bringing the car, and I’ll drive you both back home.”
I nodded. “And the StoneWolves?” My voice was small.
“They’ve been taken care of. It turned out that they weren’t so much in number, but you know that one StoneWolf is just as dangerous. I’ll meet up with the right people later to discuss and see how we can make something like this never repeat itself,” Aidan assured. “This isn’t a risk anyone should be willing to take at all,” he said,
“You’re right. Let’s just thank the goddess that they’re out. I can’ t imagine what it would have been like if it were different.”

“Yeah.”
After a bit of silence on my part, I finally decided to speak.my mind.
Before I could start to speak, the doors were pushed open, and Aidan’s head followed the sound.
“He’s here. Come on, let’s go. Do you need help with her?”
I turned to Nadia to see that she had slept against my shoulder, and I sighed heavily. I would have refused if my arm wasn’t ruined, so I nodded.
“Yes, please.”
Aidan effortlessly lifted Nadia and balanced her on his left shoulder, and he led us out of the hospital.
Saying a quick hello and thanks to Aidan’s beta, Jace, I slipped. inside the car and groaned out loud when I felt the warmth of the heating system over my cold skin. Hell, I was freezing to my bones.
Within seconds, Nadia was comfortable in the back seat, Aidan. was settled on the driver’s side, and we silently drove home.
“I’ll just call Jenna and Esme to let them know she’s okay now,” I said, breaking the silence, and Aidan nodded.
That was true, but for full disclosure, I also wanted to distract myself from ogling at Aidan’s half naked body.
I called Jenna first even though she would already be aware that Nadia had been found, but she was still so relieved. Offering her my heartfelt thanks for doing all she could on her

part to help with Nadia today, I ended the call and placed one through to Esme.
We were about ten minutes away from the house, and Esme spent six out of it, praying and thanking the moon goddess for keeping Nadia safe from harm.
I couldn’t blame her. In fact, I was grateful that I had a strong. support system here that cared so much about our affairs.

A tiny voice at the back of my head whispered the word “mate“, but I brushed it back quickly.
If something had happened to either one of us today, our story would have been so much different, having taken a new path, and so much would have still been left unsolved.
It dawned on me that everything Esme had said earlier was true. We never knew what the next day could bring, so we had to live each day to its fullest.
When the car came to a halt in the large driveway of the home. Aidan gave us the keys to, I struggled again to get the words out.
Aidan went first.
“I’ll help you get her inside and let you two catch some sleep; but I’ll check back with you first thing in the morning.”

usual, I got sucked in.
It was a silent interaction, but the air was charged with so much energy that there was no doubt that something tangible had. passed between us.
A few more seconds of silence, Aidan’s hand went up to his door handle.
“Wait!” I stopped him.
He paused and returned his attention to me.
Fighting myself to not think about his lips or his jaw, or chest, I spoke my mind.
“You saved my life today.”
“Tara…” Aidan began, but I cut him off.
“No, Aidan. You did. I had given up and resigned to my fate after making such an impulsive decision, but you were there, and you saved me. It may not also seem like it, but you saved Nadia too because so many other things could have gone wrong today.”
I inhaled a sharp breath before I continued.
“I don’t fault you for what she did. If anything, I’m sorry for dragging you into this clusterheck of a panic attack and putting a block to your plans.”
Aidan smiled a little, and he looked breathtakingly handsome at that moment.

“You forget that you both ARE my plans and whatever
clusterheck you’re both involved in automatically becomes mine too,” Aidan said.
I gave him a single nod. “I guess what I’m trying to say is, thank you for coming back for us.”
After a bit of silence, Aidan responded. “You’re welcome, Tara.”
I still had some more to say, but my heart wouldn’t stop thrashing against my ribcage, so when Aidan made to open his door the second time, I didn’t stop him.
He rounded the car and pulled my door open for me, and I muttered a dumb thanks, dragging myself out.
Aidan got Nadia from the back of the car and walked behind me as we went up to the front door.
Pushing the key into the hole, I watched Aidan hesitate at the front door because this was where he usually handed her over and went his way, but this time, I gestured for him to come. inside.
Moving forward, we were going to take steps. Me and Aidan.
