Wrong Forever 12

Chapter 12

Evelyn’s POV

My hands started shaking uncontrollably.

This was like a dream come true… Roman called me “Mom”!

I couldn’t help but crouch down and hug him, my voice trembling, “What did you call me,

Roman?”

“Mom!” he shouted again, wrapping his little arms around my neck. “I missed you so much. Come back, Mom, okay? Let’s be a family again!”

I tightened my arms around him as tears filled my eyes.

“Evelyn.”

Asher’s voice suddenly broke in, with a bit of a warning.

His voice snapped me back to reality,

Roman accused me of abusing him earlier. Why would he suddenly change his attitude?

I quickly let go of him and looked into his eyes, “Roman, where’s Leah? Does she know you’re here?”

His eyes shifted, “I don’t know if she knows or not. I just couldn’t sleep well near her, so I came to find you.”

Then he grabbed my hand and shook it.

“Can I sleep in your room, Mom?” he asked with a sweet smile.

Once again, my heart swelled.

If this was a dream, I didn’t want to wake up.

“Of course, you can,” I said without thinking, tears welling up again.

Roman cheered, but Asher immediately said, “Evelyn, can I talk to you for a second?”

I turned and saw him looking at me with disapproval.

“Sure.” I nodded and stood up.

But Roman suddenly hugged my legs. He glared at Asher with hostility, and shouted:

“Mom, I don’t want you to sleep with him! You belong to Dad! We’re a real family!

My face turned red instantly.

“Roman, Alpha Asher and I aren’t in that kind of relationship…” I said awkwardly, not sure how to explain to an 8-year-old.

Roman stuck his tongue out at Asher.

Asher sneered crossing his arms, “The last kid who made faces at me is now wandering alone in a deserted forest.”

His icy tone made Roman shudder in fear. The kid quickly hid behind me and whispered, “Mom, get him out of here. You can’t let anyone but Dad near you!”

“Sorry to break it to you, but Evelyn and your dad have split. You’re not a family anymore,” Asher said coldly, with a hint of a smirk.

“Alpha Asher!” I snapped, vexed.

How could he say something like that to a little boy?”

He shrugged, “A quick word with you please? In the garden?”

nodded, reluctantly sending a sulking Roman back to his room before following Asher out to the garden.

The weather was beautiful tonight, with a big, round moon shining down on us. The air was filled with the scent of flowers.

But no flower scent was as tempting as Asher’s.

Walking beside him, I started to feel dizzy again, my body heating up.

I could hardly resist the urge to reach out nd steady

Shit.

I must have gone too long without sex.

“Evelyn, you shouldn’t let that kid stay in your room.”

Asher broke the silence with a deep voice.

“It’s obvious he’s up to something.”

I bit my lip, trying to defend Roman, “He’s just a kid. Maybe a bit naughty, but not a bad kid.”

Asher stopped in his tracks and gave me a dark look, “I heard that he once accused you of child abuse in front of everyone. If those charges stuck, you’d be in prison for life. He’s a lying and evil little brat.”

I lapsed into silence, struggling inside.

Roman’s behavior was indeed strange, but he was still the child I had loved with all my heart for the past 3 years. I couldn’t say no to him.

“Maybe… someone else taught him to lie. And now he regrets it, so he came back to me,” I weakly argued.

Asher frowned.

He suddenly reached out to brush a strand of hair from my face.

You won’t get hurt again under my watch,” he said deeply.

His fingers brushed against my cheek.

My heart skipped a beat.

I wished his fingers could linger a bit longer. I want his hand to stroke down my neck, travel across my collarbones, and keep going…

We locked eyes. The air tensed up around us. His gaze heated up, and in a husky voice, he said:

“The land survey will take another week. When I leave Blazewood Pack, I expect you to come with me.”

My heart raced uncontrollably.

“… Maybe.” I gave him a vague answer.

“I don’t like maybe.”

His dominant attitude inade my breathing faster.

“I already have a plan to get my dowry back. Maybe it will help fast forward the process,” said.

“Anything I can help with?”

“Actually, yes.” I nodded. “There’s no way Tristan will pay me back willingly, so I’m planning to trick him. Here’s what I need you to do: No matter how the land survey goes a week later, tell Tristan that the Carnival City project is off.”

Asher looked shocked.

“The Carnival City project is your hard work. Why would you let it go?” he frowned.

I smiled, “Don’t worry, I’m not really giving it up. It’s just a tactic… you’ll see why later.”

He looked at me with admiration. “Alright. I’m here whenever you need me.”

We kept walking around the garden until the moon reached the middle of the sky, and then headed back.

But I secretly wished this walk would never end.

Ileal’s POV

I was pacing the room, anxiously.

་

Tristan went out for a drink alone. I didn’t know if he was disappointed in me because of what happened today. But I couldn’t right now.

Chapter 12

I had more important things to deal with.

Just then, the phone rang. I nearly jumped to answer it.

“Roman! Did everything go well?” I asked eagerly.

My child’s excited voice came through the line:

“Everything is perfect, Mom! I said what you told me to say, and she agreed to let me stay. Now that old bitch and Alpha Asher are out for a walk, I have plenty of time to light the poisoned scented candles! She’ll be dead in no time!”

I gripped the phone tightly, a triumphant smile spreading across my face.
