Treason?
I couldn’t believe what I just heard.
“I’ve been nothing but a dutiful Luna! So tell me. How exactly did I commit treason?”
Leah lifted his head, looking self–righteous, “You used Blazewood Pack’s resources to develop the Carnival City project, only to turn around and hand it over to your homeland. If that’s not treason, what is?”
“And you agree with this, Tristan?” I snapped.
Tristan held Leah in his arms and gave me a sullen look, “You did betray this pack when you tried to bring Emerald Howl Pack on board.”
in half by pain.
My heart almost got split.
How could he talk about betrayal?
Fine, then let’s take this to court then. Summon all the elders!” I gritted.
Leah clearly hadn’t expected me
o be so cooperative. Her face lit up with excitement.
“Alright! But if you get convicted in court, you’ll be tossed into prison and rot there!” she said, gloating.
Tristan frowned at me, “Just hand over the files and tell Alpha Asher you’ll drop out from the project. Nobody needs to go to prison.”
Leah tugged at his sleeve, “You are too kind to her, Tristan. She betrayed this pack. She should be punished!”
Tristan seemed to be persuaded by her.
“Take Evelyn to court,” he said deeply.
The soldiers swarmed up and escorted me out of my room.
When we entered the council hall, 17 elders of Blazewood Pack were already seated.

This was protocol: the trial’s outcome would be decided by the elders and the Alpha together. If the votes were tied, we could appeal to the werewolf’s Supreme Tribunal.
Tristan took his seat on the throne. Leah stood by his side as
shes
were already his Luna.
She loudly proclaimed my guilt, then added with righteous
“Tristan was a good husband, a good Alpha! But Evelyn selfishly took advantage of him and stole the Carnival City project! We can’t get ripped off by her! I think she should be expelled immediately and can’t take away any of the pack’s assets.
I glared at her.
So, she planned to use this to stop me from reclaiming my dowry and the project.
Sneaky bitch!
“How can I steal something if it’s already mine?” I snapped.
Tristan narrowed his eyes at me, “Don’t be stupid, Evelyn. Creating a couple of spreadsheets doesn’t make you the boss. You had nearly a hundred employees working under you in the early development stage. Blazewood Pack paid for their wage, the travel expenses, the office rent, the whole package. The paying person was the boss.”
I looked at him sarcastically.
He really knew nothing!
I took out my phone and found a bank transfer record before showing it to them:
“Here, last month’s employee wages….paid from my personal account. Blazewood Pack didn’t contribute a single penny the entire time!”
Everyone sucked in a sharp breath.
“How’s this possible!” Tristan snapped.

Chapter 9
“I tried to apply for the fund a year ago, but you turned me down, remember?” I said with cold disappointment, “You said this project is too stupid and I was wasting Blazewood Pack’s money. So I had to use my own money to make this happen.”
Tristan’s face turned dark, probably remembering the conversation that we had in the past.
“You can have an audit investigate me. Everything I said is true,” I said.
“But what about the personnel?!” Leah cried, “Surely all of your employees are Tristan’s members. That makes the project ours!”
“80% of them aren’t.” I replied. “I had to hire from outside of the pack because there aren’t many qualified people locally. Again, you can check the personnel records to make sure.”
There was an awkward look on everyone’s face.
They made a huge fuss dragging me down here, trying to convict me and throwing me into prison.
Only to find that the project only existed because of my own money and my own men.
Jokes on them.
“WAIT!”
Leah cried hastily, looking desperate, “This cooperation with Storm Fang Pack! You must have used Blazewood Pack’s international influence to
secure this cooperation! Without your title as Blazewood’s Luna, nobody will look at you!”
I wanted to tell her that’s the most ridiculous thing I had ever heard.
And just then, a series of footsteps came from my back
I turned around and saw Asher, Jason and a couple of my employees striding into the council hall together!
“Alpha Asher!” Tristan stood up from the throne, looking surprised. “What are you doing here?”
“To clear some misunderstandings,” Asher said icily. “Jason?”
to the court.
“Miss Evelyn didn’t mention she was Alpha Tristan’s Luna when she approached me,” Jason said loudly
“Impossible!” Leah snapped, trembling. “That’s the only thing she can show off with…her only advantage!”
“Miss Evelyn had a great business proposal. I chose to work with her because of her talent, not because she’s somebody’s wife,” Jason said seriously.
Leah’s face turned pale as though she just got slapped in the face.

With: hands in his pocket, Asher looked at Tristan with a sneer, “Your mistress thinks too highly of this pack. Blazewood Pack doesn’t have as much international influence as she thought. She’s so ignorant that it’s starting to get embarrassing.”
Leah looked indignant and argued back, “I have a degree in Economy-
”
Yet Tristan clamped her mouth shut before she could finish.
“I’m so sorry you have to see this, Alpha Asher.” he said apologetically, “Please give me some time to sort this out quick…”
“You said the same thing last night but only to make things worse.” Asher poin
can easily walk away now and work with another pack.”
Tristan’s breathing became fast, “Please don’t. Tell me how I can fix this?”
Asher turned to look at Leah with an icy expression.
sharply, “There’re a lot of packs with empty lands out there. I
“Kick this stupid woman out and agree Emerald Howl Pack to join. Then, I’ll forget about all these nonsenses,” he said.
